Resistive loads are commonly used to conduct full-load bum-in tests onUninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), DC Switching Power Supplies, and Motor Generator back-up systems. The recirculating load bank is a new method of load testing this equipment which offers many advantages over the conventional resistive load banks.
These advantages include:A. Reduced expenses due to energy savings B. Lower air conditioning requirements C. Space savings D. Lower peak power demands. This paper seeks to present a novel scheme of load testing of UPS and other AC and DC power supply equipment with minimal losses in the load bank by recirculating thc load power back to the input. This results in a net reduction of the utility input power consumption of at least 80 percent. The principle of quadrature voltagc injection (2) is used to control the power flow between two sources in HV transmission and distribution system. Methods of quadrature voltage injection is used to transfer power from the UPS to utility. Two methods of load recirculation have been analyzed and experimental results presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
