The phospholipid fatty acid composition of Amphimedoncompressa was reinvestigated and the 2-methoxyhexadecanoic acid was identified for the first time in nature. Structure characterization was accomplished by means of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and total synthesis from commercially available 2-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid.

-079N-tert-Butyldimethylsilyl Imines as Intermediates for the Synthesis of Amines and Ketones.-Addition of Grignard or organolithium reagents to benzonitrile and subsequent reaction with a chlorosilane affords the corresponding N-silylimines [cf. (III)], which provide the desired phenylalkylamines [cf. (IV), (VI)] after reduction with borane reagents. Enantioselective reduction of these N-silylimines using chiral borane reagents derived from norephedrine or (S)-2-amino1,1,2-triphenylethanol provides chiral phenylalkylamines such as (VIII) with modest to good enantiomeric excess. Hydrolysis of the N-silylimines provides an efficient access to aromatic ketones [cf. (X)]. -(ORTIZ-MARCIALES, M.; TIRADO, L. M.; COLON, R.; UFRET, M. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
