This study aimed to verify the effects of sexual abuse and maternal abandonment and to explore the utility of the Rorschach method to understand the victims' interior life. The qualitative analysis focused on 12 protocols of children between six and eight years of age, including five girls and seven boys from Brazilian institutions. The presence of recursive responses of inanimate movement (m), morbid (MOR), aggressive (AG), sexual (Sx) contents and anatomy (An) was evidenced. The results suggest traumatic experiences with primary objects, hostile and aggressive human interactions, damaged self-perception and early abusive sexualization. The findings illustrate the harmful effects of sexual abuse and maternal abandonment in child development, and ratify the use of the Rorschach for evaluation processes in an ideographic approach, beyond the nomothetic perspective.
The objective of this study was to construct normative tables for the Rorschach Comprehensive System for Brazilian children from public and private schools. The sample was selected using the Child Behavior Checklist and the Raven Test. The Rorschach was administered to children from 7 to 10 years old, both genders, from public schools (N=110) and private schools (N=101) in the city of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso State. Normative tables were created from the 113 variables of the Rorschach Comprehensive System, taking into consideration school type and age group. A comparison of the results demonstrated higher results in the R, Sum Y and Blend variables and in the Intellectualization Index among private school children, and higher Lambda scores among public school children.
ABSTRACT -Sex offenders evaluated using the Human Figure DrawingThe aim of this study was to evaluate psychological characteristics of intra-family sexual offenders. The study included 10 men, between 23 and 59 years of age, who are inmates in a Resocialization Center as a function of Article 213 of the Brazilian Penal Code. A semi-structured interview and Human Figure Drawing were used, individually, as data collection instruments. Findings were analyzed by the statistic program SPSS version 22.0 for preparation of simple descriptive analyses. The results from this sample indicated difficulty in dealing with physical impulses in seeking immediate satisfaction of needs, including, and primarily, sexual needs. These characteristics were recurrent in some elements of the drawings, such as the location on the paper, the omission of the midsection and the absence of pupils in the eyes. The main findings corroborate the personality characteristics commonly portrayed in the literature and confirm the inexistence of a psychological profile of a sexual offender. Keywords: human figure drawing; personality; child sexual victimization. This study provides Rorschach Comprehensive System normative data for Brazilian boys and girls drawn from public and private schools. Initially, the Child Behavior Checklist was administered to parents to assess the child's social competence and to screen out behavioral disturbances. Afterward, the Raven's Color Progressive Matrices was administered to exclude children with low intellectual development. Finally, the Rorschach Comprehensive System was administered to the selected 211 children who were distributed in 4 subgroups: 7-year-olds (n = 50), 8-year-olds (n = 53), 9-year-olds (n = 52), and 10-year-olds (n = 56). Interrater reliability statistics were calculated, including percentage of agreement and iota. Descriptive statistics of all variables of the Comprehensive System for each subgroup are presented and contrasted with results from other relevant comparison samples.
