This paper focuses on the hybrid writing of American authors of Hispanic descent in its double dimension as a process of translation and representation, and also as a process subject to other processes of translation and representation, including scholarly assessment and description. It examines the problems and ideological implications of translating these translated fictions, inasmuch as this writing calls into question both traditional visions of literature and hegemonic translation models.Cet article analyse l’écriture hybride de certains écrivains américains d’origine hispanique dans sa double dimension: comme processus de traduction et de représentation, et comme un objet qui obéit à d’autres processus de traduction et de représentation, notamment l’évaluation et la description faites dans un contexte de recherche universitaire. Las experiencias formativas basadas en Aprendizaje-Servicio (ApS) que se vienen implementando en los últimos años en diferentes contextos universitarios tanto en España como en otros países permiten demostrar la validez de esta metodología como herramienta didáctica efectiva y de calidad en la enseñanza superior. El proyecto TRADAPS, en desarrollo en la Universidad de Salamanca dentro del grado en Traducción e Interpretación, pretende contribuir a corroborar la idoneidad de este enfoque en el ámbito concreto. Este proyecto inició su andadura en el curso 2021-2022 con el propósito de diseñar una línea de trabajo en ApS que permitiera al alumnado realizar Trabajos de Fin de Grado en colaboración con ONG que comparten la misión de mejorar la calidad de vida y la inclusión social de colectivos de migrantes en situación de vulnerabilidad motivada por barreras lingüísticas y culturales. Actualmente, se realiza el seguimiento de dos Trabajos de Fin de Grado desarrollados en colaboración con las organizaciones españolas Cepaim y Salamanca Acoge.
‘Translation’, understood in a broad sense, has been defined as a basic ingredient of globalisation and, more specifically, of the current globalising processes of law. This article reviews contributions that have explored the interconnection of translation and law in various disciplines. Inspired by the call for interdisciplinarity in Legal Translation Studies and for an “outward turn” in Translation Studies, this article will draw on theories of legal pluralism which have used various conceptualisations of translation to offer critical insights into the challenges of and for legal translation as a discipline and a professional practice in the superdiverse societies of the global era. The ultimate aim of this interdisciplinary round trip is to contribute towards increased self-reflexivity in Legal Translation Studies and towards a re-imagining of dominant legal translation practices in line with the growing commitment to diversity in institutional settings.
