Introduction: Simulation of nursing care in patients with acute respiratory infections (ARI) requires a method that is high fidelity. This study aims to determine the impact of Virtual Reality Simulation (VRS), as a learning method, on the improvement of cognitive abilities of undergraduate nursing students in conducting nursing care of the ARI case. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with pre and post-test on the control and intervention group. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, with a total of 27 respondents divided into nine respondents in each group, including the control group (group A) intervention group (Group B and C). There were three different methods in the implementation of VRS as learning activities. Data were analyzed by ANCOVA test. Results: The results showed a significant impact on the application of VRS as a learning method with p <0.05 (0.025). Conclusion: This significant impact was obtained in the implementation of VRS as a stand-alone learning method.
Evernote adalah aplikasi yang dapat digunakan sebagai platform e-learning alternatif untuk pendidikan tinggi. Namun, belum diketahui tingkat usabilitas dan kepuasannya pada pendidikan keperawatan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi tingkat usabilitas dan kepuasan Evernote sebagai platform e-learning. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei menggunakan kuesioner dengan teknik purposive sampling. Responden adalah 139 mahasiswa Fakultas Keperawatan, Universitas Padjadjaran yang mengikuti online course Ilmu Dasar Keperawatan versi trial. Data tendensi sentral (mean) dianalisis untuk setiap item dan setiap kategori. 'Rerata usabilitas' dan kepuasan terhadap 'desain' dinilai cukup baik (69,2% dan 77%), namun kategori 'reliabitas sistem', dan 'hasil dan penggunaan di masa depan' masih dinilai rendah (56,5% dan 56,4%). Ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi Evernote diminati oleh mahasiswa namun mereka belum dapat melihat kemanfaatannya dalam belajar karena penelitian dilakukan pada mata kuliah online versi trial. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan dengan implementasi Evernote pada mata kuliah yang terintegrasi dengan kurikulum, dan didukung dengan tahap persiapan yang komprehensif.
Tingkat pengetahuan kader kesehatan mengenai senam diabetes melitus adalah hal yang penting untuk melaksanakan manajemen diri penderita diabetes melitus. Namun, masih banyak kader kesehatan yang tidak tahu tentang hal tersebut sehingga kader kesehatan belum dapat melakukan pembinaan mengenai senam diabetes melitus. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengidentifikasi peningkatan pengetahuan kader kesehatan tentang senam diabetes melitus di wilayah Puskesmas Wanaraja. Kegiatan ini merupakan quasi experiment one group pretest and postest design. Populasinya adalah kader kesehatan dengan jumlah 350 dan jumlah sample 78 kader kesehatan melalui teknik pengambilan sampel incidental sampling. Alat pengumpul data adalah kuesioner yang dikembangkan peneliti. Analisa data yang dilakukan secara univariat dan uji paired t test dimana sebelum sudah diuji normalitas dengan menggunakan kolmogorov smirnov. Uji normalitas pada variabel pengetahuan menunjukan dstribusi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukan rata-rata nilai pengetahuan kader kesehatan pretest sebesar 31,58 dan postest 72,26 dengan nilai signifkasi 0,00 < 0,05. Simpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan kader kesehatan tentang senam diabetes mellitus di wilayah Puskesmas Wanaraja. Diharapkan kader kesehatan dapat memberikan informasi tentang senam diabetes kepada masyarakat, khusunya penderita diabetes melitus dalam upaya pelaksanakan manajemen dirinya. The responsibility of nurses as nursing care providers is a factor that affects the mental workload. The mental workload of nurses as caregivers who have to work and interact with patients professionally for 24 hours would arise. It may because of continuous adaptation of time constraints in providing nursing care for 24 hours, unclear job demands, limited ability, lack of motivation and mood, and the psychological burden of the nurse. This study aimed to describe the mental workload in carrying out their role as the nursing care provider at eight inpatient wards, Sumedang public hospital. This research applied descriptive quantitative design. The mental workload was measured using the NASA-TLX instrument. The samples were 94 who works inpatient rooms, they were randomly selected through cluster sampling techniques. Analysis of the data was descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed that 67% of nursing nurses had a mental workload that was in the role of providing nursing care. Nurses have a high mental workload in providing nursing care in special surgical wards (53.8%) and child wards (50%). It is recommended that hospitals evaluate the work system of nurses to examine the physical, psychological and behavioral changes that occur to nurses. It is expected that nurses show good performance in carrying out their role as nursing care providers.
BACKGROUND: Breast cancer turns a person’s life upside down, affecting every aspect of an individual including the psychological domain, such as feelings of phobia, isolation, anger, irritability, confusion, and most frequently anxiety. Some studies reported that rituals practice in Islam have an impact on the psychological health breast cancer patient. AIM: The aim of the study was to explore the experience of psychological alteration among patients with advanced breast cancer. METHODS: A qualitative study utilizing the content analysis approach was organized. Twenty Muslims with breast cancer during chemotherapy treatment with a mean age of 47.1 years who dealt with their psychological responses during treatment were invited to participate in a semi-structured interview, before and after applying Islamic-based practice therapy. This study conducted between February and June 2018 in the outpatient unit of chemotherapy in one of the Indonesia’s teaching hospitals. The generated data were transcribed verbatim and the content analysis approach was used for data reduction, data names, obtaining analytical code, and determining categories and themes. RESULTS: Four themes emerged from the data analysis before the researchers using the Islamic-based practice therapy: (1) Self-blaming, (2) feeling sad, (3) feeling fear and uncertain, and (4) living with a new body. However, the results after applying the Islamic-based practice therapy emerged three themes: (1) Closer to God, (2) peace of mind, and (3) inner strength. CONCLUSION: Overall, in the view of breast cancer patients, the psychological experience of using the Islamic-based practice therapy could change to positive responses by making them feel closer to God, having good inner strength, and a peaceful mind in dealing with their day-to-day conditions. Hence, understanding the patient’s experience will assist the nurses to promote professional abilities and improve nursing care delivery related to different cultural backgrounds and spiritual dimensions of Muslims patients.
