The purpose of this research was evaluate leaf and stem nutrient composition of Indigofera zollingeriana with three different planting space in coconut plantation and to determine the suitable planting space of indigofera that produced highest nutrient in the system. The experiment was done at the experimental station of Assessment Institute Agricultural Technology (AIAT) of North Sulawesi, located 12 km from Manado City, North Sulawesi Province. This experiment was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment consisted of three planting space, (1) 1.0x0.5m, (2) 1.0x1.0m, and (3) 1.0x1.5m, each treatment had six replications. Nutrient composition was observed. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and HSD test. The variables measured were dry matter content, protein content and crude fiber content in leaf and stem. The results showed that different planting space were significant different (P<0.05) on leaf protein content, leaf crude fiber content and stem crude fiber conten but were no significant different (P>0.05) on leaf and stem dry matter content. HSD test showed that planting space 1.0m x 1.5m have highest leaf protein content (32.46%) and lowest leaf crude fiber content (10.04%). Based on this research it can be concluded that planting space 1.0m x 1.5m of Indigofera zollingeriana in coconut plantation have the highest nutrient composition.
THE EFFECT OF FEED COST ON THE PROFIT OF PIG FARMERS IN WERDHI AGUNG VILLAGE, WEST DUMOGA DISTRICT. This study aims to determine influence of feed cost on pig farmer’s profits. This research was conducted by survey method to 30 respondents of pig farmers in werdhi agung village, west dumoga subdistrict. The determination of samples was carried out by purposive sampling, with the consideration of breeders have pig over 20 heads and more than one year experienced on pig farm. The analytical method used in this study was multiple linear regression analysis. Study results showed the cost of consentrate feed, bran, corn, had significantly effect on the profits of pig farmers simultaneously Partially the cost of concentrate had a very significant effect, while the cost of ingredient feed materials of bran, corn, had no significant effect on profits.
Kata kunci : ternak sapi, daya dukung, hijauan, limbah tanaman pangan ABSTRACT Farm development showed a good prospect and has an important role in the growth of the agricultural economy . The problem is how far the supported of land resources, can increase the cattle population in Tompaso district of Minahasa regency.. Based on this problems the study was applied. The aimed of the research was to know potensial development of cattle in Tompaso sub district Minahasa regency based on the availability of forages and agriculture by product. Secondary data analysis methods was used to meet the objectif of the research such as planted area used by the farmers and population of cattle in Tompaso sub district. The data was collected from extension office of agriculture , fisheries and forestry (BP3K) and agriculture service of Minahasa regency. Potensial livestock development analysis was used to find out the goal of the research. Result of this study showed the effectif forages production were 1.811,86 ton p.a. Effectif production of agriculture by product was 6.630,39 ton p.a.. Maximum carrying capacity of Tompaso sub district were 4.020,11 animal unit. Capacity increase of cattle population by land resources ( KPPTR) were 1.459,65 animal unit. Based on the research, Tompaso sub district has carrying capacity as developing area of cattle in Minahasa Regency North Sulawesi.
EFFECT OF SHADING AND NITROGEN LEVEL TO CHARACTER OF GROWTH CORONIVA GRASS (Brachiaria humidicola). The Coroniva grass (Brachiaria humidicola) or Schweick was ruminant animal feed grass with high ability for land recovering, land erosion and high nutrient quality for ruminant animals. In the areas with high sun light and land nutrient availability, this grass was capable to increase carbon accumulation under top soil and contribute the nitrogen (N) as fixation result of Azotobacter microorganism. Under shading areas and lack of land nutrient availability, especially nitrogen, growth and production potentials had not been fully explored. The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of shading areas and nitrogen fertilizer on growth traits, dried matter plant leaf canopy and ratio between plant canopy and plan root of Coroniva grass (Brachiaria humidicola). Treatments were divided into three levels of shading (0%, 40%, 70%) and nitrogen fertilizer levels of 0 kg, 50 kg and 100 kg ha-1. Treatments were applied using factorial design based on block randomized design. Results showed that interaction between shading area of 40% and N level of 100 kg ha-1 produced the highest numbers and length of stolon, while the highest numbers of propagating plant were found at interaction between shading area of 40% and N level of 50 kg ha-1. Therefore, it can be concluded that growth traits of Coroniva grass were determined by the factors of shading areas and nitrogen macro element. Key word: Coroniva grass, shading area, nitrogen, growth.
Indonesia is a country with a big human population in the world, still import red meat, since the price of this commodity is higher than those import. The problem is supply of forages is insufficient due to limitation of space for forage production. Especially during the dry season the forages almost disappears and farmers face on shortage supply of forage followed decrease beef production. This research aimed to study the effects of enriched protein of tree legume leaf on complete dry ration based on tropical grass. The treatments were: T-0 = P.purpureum (control); T-1 = PP + GS+Crt; T-2 = PP + LL + Crt; T-3 = PP + IZ + Crt. Treatments were arranged on Completely Randomized Design, with 5 replications. Twenty male goats with average body weight +15 Kg has been used. The results of this research showed that treatment T-3 with I. zolingeriana (IZ) as a source of phyto-protein in complete rations has the best results on all variables measured. It could be concluded that leaves of this tree legumes prospective to support the application of technology complete ration based on local resources to resolve the problem of shortages of feeds supply to ruminant in the tropic region.
