SummaryPicramates of titanium, zirconium and thorium are prepared by treating the aqueous sulphate, chloride and nitrate solutions with sodium picramate. Micro-analysis, colorimetry and spectrophotometry are used t o establish the compositions (metal : ligand ratio) of these picramates as 1 : 2 (for ritanium and zirconium) and 1 : 4 (for thorium). IR studies indicate H2N +Me coordination (where Me denotes the metal). A number of explosive properties of these picramates point to the fact that the zirconium picramate is thermally more stable than the picramates of titanium and thorium.
From aqueous solution of Zr(NO,), and K;X (X-oxalate, malonate, malate, succinate, adipate and phthalate) taken in different molar proportions, the following compounds were prepared either by precipitation or by fractional crystallization methods. ZrO .
Thallous salts of malonato complexes of Al, Ga, Cr and Zr have been prepared in the crystalline state and their compositions determined. The corresponding manganic complex being extremely unstable and very highly soluble could not be obtained in the solid state.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
