The 21st-century challenges require the next generations to have various skills to deal with, including scientific process skills. This study aimed to describe the scientific process skills of the senior high school student in Palembang in term of ecology subject. This descriptive quantitative research observed 231 respondents of the tenth-grade student from two different sub-districts in Palembang, Gandus and West Ilir. The student’s scientific process skills were measured using the test instrument and interview. The results showed that there were various outcomes for each indicator in Gandus i.e. 68.87% (observing), 75.00% (grouping), 54.81% (interpreting), 73.08% (predicting), 52.56% (formulating a hypothesis), 49.04% (planning an experiment), and 43.59% (communicating). Meanwhile in West Ilir the outcomes for students’ scientific process skills were 69.48% (observing), 66.34% (grouping), 56.65% (interpreting), 64.04% (predicting), 59.64% (formulating a hypothesis), 47.85% (planning an experiment), and 41.39% (communicating). It can be concluded that the students’ scientific process skills in Palembang were categorized as the medium. Hence, strategies to promote students’ scientific process skills in biology class still need to be improved especially in ecology learning.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made changes in various sectors of life in Indonesia, including education. The Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture issued a policy for the implementation of online learning. One of the factors that determine the success of online learning is the level of student self-regulated learning. Thus understanding the capabilities of SRL is essential for achieving successful education during this pandemic. This article presents data that explore the profiles of self-regulated learning in 1st-grade to 12th-grade students. Four aspects of self-regulated learning include planning, monitoring, controlling, and reflecting. Data retrieval is related to predictions of online learning success during Covid-19 mitigation. The sample consisted of 6571 students. The questionnaire was distributed to 61 schools (37 primary schools, 12 junior high schools, and 12 senior high schools) with an online survey in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The questionnaire was prepared in an online format using Google Form. This link was presented with an introductory sentence from the researcher and distributed to students through the respective principal. Students may only fill in a questionnaire once but were allowed to make changes in response. The collected data were selected to be valid and reliable using the Rasch model. Some data released are items that are not filled in, extremely low or high data. These data can be further processed with various statistical techniques such as Two-way, ANOVA, MANOVA, or Cluster Analysis following the intended in-depth analysis needs. The data will be useful for researchers, educational decision-makers, and education managers to improve online learning services and implementation that enhance student learning achievement.

AbstractBackground: Learning media are aids used by teachers to communicate with students. Media can make students active during the learning process. One of the media that can be used by a teacher is Microsoft PowerPoint. The learning process in the classroom teacher still uses powerpoint media that are still monotonous, making attention can be reduced and tends to be passive towards learning biology. To avoid the lack of active students in learning, it is necessary to develop powerpoint media combined in a learning discovery model. Powerpoint media developed need to be made so that they can be used in the learning process, especially in environmental pollution material. Methods: Development research was carried out using the Tessmer model, consisting of self-evaluation and prototyping (expert, one-to-one, and small group reviews). Data collection instruments used consisted of observation sheets, interview lists and questionnaires. Data analysis on the feasibility of meeting in Mardapi (2008). Results: The results of the study prove that the validator of the media is feasible (30), the validator of the material is feasible (17), the teacher is very feasible (28), the trials one to one are quite feasible (27.33), the small group trials of students who do not need decent material (33.4), and a small group trial of students who obtained very decent material (37.47). Conclusion: Powerpoint media developed with a combination of discovery models is feasible to be used in the lea...
