Although this is a small and preliminary study, and the changes of LPO and anti-MDA-LDL antibody were within the normal range, the initial periodontal therapy significantly decreased LPO, an oxidative stress index, in type 2 diabetic patients with periodontal disease.

The international scoring system for diagnosis of Wilson disease is a fairly reliable tool for screening Japanese patients who need anti-copper treatment. Caution is needed for patients with possible idiopathic copper toxicosis because the maximal score is 4 points.

These findings suggest that immune suppression after partial hepatectomy involves decreases in CD4(+) helper T cells, particularly Th1 cells.
