Background: Nursing process is a deliberate problem solving approach for meeting client's health care needs has been important to nursing practice for a long time. Aim: To evaluate the effect of applying an educational Program regarding nursing process on Acquiring Advanced skills among internship nurse's students. Subject and methods :Quasi-experimental research design carried out on 69 purposive sample of internship student nurses in 2017-2018 internship year collected by using two validated reliable adopted tool from Qanowe , 2004 , the first tool contains sociodemographic data sheet related to internship students age , gender , department , hospitals , the second tool related to student's assessment skills sheet it contains 12 parts divided into 4 main parts related to personal & professional qualifications followed by 6 parted related to nursing process and 2 parts related to personal skills and abilities with totally 83 items. Results reflected that there are a statistically level of knowledge among the internship nursing students regarding steps of nursing processes after the educational program implementation compared with unsatisfactory level before educational program implementation. Also, there is an improvement of internship nursing students for nursing processes post of educational program implementation whereas the mean of total knowledge scores level before the program compared to after program implementation with a highly statistically significant difference. There was a strong positive correlation found among internship student nurses between leadership and management skills, learning and education , communication , security and safety, other skills and different steps of nursing processes with a highly statistically significant difference at post-implementation of educational program compared to pre-program implementation. Conclusion & recommendations: Based on study results the implementation of an educational program for internship nursing students on nursing process and its application benefits showed a remarkable increase and improvement of the internship students nurse 's satisfactory level of professionalism and personal qualifications and acquiring the ultimate positive and noticeable improvement in the nurse's advanced acquired skills towards Profession and personal attitude , learning , management and leadership , communication , security and safety , and other professional skills as computer using , critical thinking , problem solving .There are an obvious needs for routinely refreshment program on nursing processes offered on simple media to internship nursing students to minimize work hazards. Efforts should be carried out to design and implement interventions that suit the hospital rules and policies regarding application of nursing processes.
Background: anticoagulants are high-risk drugs so it is very important to monitor the patients receiving anti-coagulant therapy. Aim: assess the nurses' performance regarding caring of patients on anticoagulant therapy in Port Said Hospitals. Subjects and Method: a descriptive research design was used A convenient sample of 130 nurses at three hospitals affiliated to Ministry of Health (Port-Said General Hospital, Port-Fouad General Hospital and El-Zohor Central Hospital) at Port-Said governerate were recruited. Tools: data were collected using three tools, nurses' knowledge assessment questionnaire, nurses' attitude scale and observational checklist for practice. Results: the result of study indicated that 66.9% of studied nurses had got unsatisfactory knowledge and 69.2% of them had got unsatisfactory practice while 60.8% of them had positive attitude regarding anticoagulant therapy. Conclusion: the study concluded that more than two thirds of the studied nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge, practice and less two thirds of them had positive attitude regarding caring of patients on anticoagulant therapy and there were a highly statistically significant positive correlation between total nurses' knowledge, practice scores and their total attitude scores .In addition, there is no statistically significant relations between total score of nurses' knowledge, practice, and attitude and all items of personal characteristics and work related data. Recommendations: There are obvious needs for conducting educational and training programs to improve nurses' knowledge and practice regarding the care of patients undergoing anticoagulant therapy.
Background: Bone marrow biopsy plays a critical role in the identification and management of several hematological and systemic illnesses. Even although the procedure has been conceded for years, it remains uncomfortable and extremely painful experience for all patients. While applying evidence-based guidelines in dealing with a patient undergoing bone marrow biopsy is not only an absolute duty for nurses practicing, however, is too a central role to the nursing science. Objectives: This study aims to assess and evaluate the impact of evidence-based guidelines on performance, perception, and satisfaction of patients undergoing bone marrow biopsy Method: Quasi-experimental research design was conducted. The purposive sample for all patients (50) admitted for Bone Marrow biopsy with various hematological disorders at Damietta Oncology Institute. The instrument was used to collect study data include patient socio-demographic, health information characteristics, patient's performance, the perception of patient's and satisfaction. Result: It showed that the majority of patients had a higher total mean score at post-evidence-based guidelines implementation than pre implementing of guidelines regarding patient's perception, performance, and satisfaction with statistically significant difference (p ≤ 0.05).Conclusion: Evidence-based guidelines improve patient's perception, performance, and satisfaction regarding bone marrow biopsy. Recommendations: Activate implementation of bone marrow biopsy an aspiration guidelines manual in the hospitals and it's availability to all patients in the simple media and language. Also, nurses must be trained to implement evidence-based guidelines. This study may deliver a performance framework for the future advance in other nursing evidence-based practice.
Background: The professional competencies of faculty staff are of great importance in shaping students' values, skills and attitudes that directly affect subsequent patient care. Objectives: to assay the level of faculty staff professionalism through investigating the level of professional competencies of faculty staff and behavior via students' perceptions, assessing nursing students' values, and finding the relationship between faculty staff professionalism and nursing students' values. Methods: A descriptive correlational study design was carried out with 186 nursing students from four levels in the Faculty of Nursing, Port Said University, Egypt. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Results: Faculty staff had a high level of competencies, including: personality and respectful professional relationships and communication (75.3%); planning and preparation, well-organized teaching methods (72.0%); Activities of monitoring and giving feedback (72.6%), Scientific and professional competence (68.3%); and Methods of motivation and enhancement (67.7%). About half of students (51.6%) perceived that their faculty staff behave positively to a high level. Prominent values among nursing students are mercy, honesty and patience. Statistically significant relations were found between total faculty staff behavior scores, total faculty staff competencies scores, and total students' values scores, with statistically significant relations found for most items between faculty staff behaviors and competencies and students' values. Conclusions and recommendations: The present study found that values as mercy, honest and patience had a great influence by the faculty staff professional competencies and positive behavior. It is recommended to enhance the scientific and professional level of faculty staff by continuous training and scholarships. Faculty staff must pay attention to guide students toward positive behavior and stress the importance of personal and professional students' values, reflected in their clinical nursing practice.
