Interest in learning is one of the determining factors for achieving learning objectives. Through interest, students will have the urge to follow the ongoing learning process. One way to increase student interest in learning is by using technology in earning process, such as the use of technology- based learning media. Learning media that are used appropriately in the learning process will be a more effective and efficient supporting tool in achieving learning objectives. The purpose of this workshop is to increase the learning interest of Senior High School students in Padang Pariaman Regency through the use of learning media using technology. This workshop is not only intended for students but also the teachers. University Community Engagement Program (PkM) is carried out through 5 (five) stages, namely: the preliminary stage, the socialization and audience stage, the workshop implementation stage, and the final evaluation stage. The workshop is conducted for 2 (two) days and is given separately for teachers and students. On the first day, the material was presented to teachers and students. Furthermore, the second day of the workshop focused on the practice of making learning media using the internet and its use.
This meta-analysis study explores the effectiveness of technology-enhanced language learning in the context of English language teaching. Through a comprehensive review of relevant literature, various research studies were examined to gain insights into the impact and potential of technology in language learning. The findings highlight that the use of new technologies positively contributes to learners' language learning skills and enhances their overall proficiency. Mobile learning and ICT tools have been identified as effective resources that facilitate English language learning by providing accessible and efficient learning environments. Additionally, the research indicates that technology-supported language learning is as effective as learning with human teachers, indicating the potential of technology to offer personalized and tailored learning experiences. However, it is crucial to provide teachers with proper training and support to confidently integrate technology into their teaching practices. Educational institutions should offer comprehensive training programs and allocate sufficient time for teachers to enhance their technological skills and confidently utilize educational technologies. These findings underscore the importance of technology in enhancing language learning outcomes and emphasize the need for ongoing support and professional development for teachers in integrating technology into language teaching.
This reseacrh is titled "General Retaliation Against The Roman Empire As Seen In William Shakespeare's Coriolanus. In this research the author will discuss several issues, namely (1) How is Coriolanus's struggle in defending Rome's empire from enemy attacks? (2) What did Coriolanus do to avenge himself at the Roman empire? (3) What is the story of Coriolanus at the end of the story? the objectives of this research are (1) To analyze Coriolanus' life at the beginning of the story (2) To explain the cause of coriolanus to avenge his Roman empire (3) To study and explain how much Coriolanus's grudge to Rome to the tragic story he experienced. The theory used in this research is literary psychology theory according to Sigmund Freud. This research uses a qualitative method. The object of research is the drama Coriolanus by William Shakespeare. Data sources are divided into two, namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. The primary data source is the drama script itself. Secondary data sources are text texts and several references related to research. The data collection technique is taking notes. The technical analysis of the data is descriptive analysis. The results of the study show the following conclusions. First, the responsibility of a general in maintaining the sovereignty of his kingdom. Second, feelings of resentment arise when a struggle is not properly appreciated. Third, someone's revenge towards others can have fatal consequences and can even end in a tragic death.
This article aimed to express the implementing authentic assessment in the 2013 curriculum by English teachers of Prof. Dr. Hamka Padang Modern Boarding High School. The illustration enclosed the kinds of authentic assessment, the implementation and the problems encountered by the English teachers. The subjects were two English teachers and 36 students. Observation checklist, questionnaire sheet and interview guideline were used as the research instruments. This is descriptive research and analyzed by qualitatively. The results showed that kinds of authentic assessment implemented by the two English teachers were oral interview, observation, writing sample, project, constructed-respond item and performance by score 45,55% with “poor category”. Although they have maximized their effort, they did not do better on the preparing, scoring, and reporting. Then, lack of time, knowledge and difficult to find appropriate material were still being problems encountered by the English teachers in implementing of the authentic assessment. This research was aimed at designing English course handout for Grand Zuri Hotel Padang employees. The type of this research is Research and Development toward designing and producing handout for teaching and learning at Grand Zuri Hotel Padang. It is conducted for the employees of the hotel which participates for English class. In additon, there were 50 (fifty) employees involved in English teaching and learning process at Grand Zuri Hotel Padang and they were divided into two meeting. In fact, the result of the study shows that: (1) current analysis about teaching and learning process of Grand Zuri Hotel Padang related to several information of the previous teaching and learning process where the learners are in pre-intermediate level and a meeting last in 120 minutes, but there was no handout for the learners; (2) need analysis showed that the dominant skill needed by the learners based on the questionnaire were listening and speaking, generally the ability of the learners in English are good, and there were 19 (nineteen) topics that could be choosen by the learners; (3) in designing handout, there were 14 (fourteen) topics in the handout and there was also a syllabus of the handout, also the activity in the handout consist of the introduction about the topic, expressions, reading, paired practice, chit chatting, and worksheet; (4) to validate the handout, there were 4 (four) validators involved, General Manager of Grand Zuri Hotel Padang (Surni Yanti,S.Pd), two lecturers from Hotel Management Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang, and experience trainer for English in otel industry. In conclusion, based on the findings, there should be attractive and easy to understand materials or handout for the employees of Grand Zuri Hotel Padang; (5) in order to know the effectifity of handout in teaching and learning there was limited try out in Grand Zuri Hotel. Based on the result of the try out, there is a conclution that the material which is prepared for the employees were needed in teaching and learning process , such as handout, which is made by easy and understandable format to be learned.
