This study aims to determine the influence of practice-based active learning on students' interest and response in learning local culture in drama classes. The research was conducted at public universities in Indonesia using two active learning strategies. Qualitative methods using participatory techniques, interviews, and observations were carried out in collecting data for this study. The sample of this research is fifty drama class students. The analysis of data was done after the drama classes ended, which was marked by the process of assessing student learning outcomes through stage performances. This study showed a statistically significant increase in students' interest and response to learning local culture through collaborative learning methods and role-play in drama classroom learning. This study recommends adopting an active learning strategy in teaching local cultural materials to students. Further research is recommended on designing different active learning strategies with other variables and in different locations. A nation's character is formed from its human capital, the character of its individuals. Character is abstract, nature of changes to character is challenging to monitor, but it can be felt. The formation of individual character can be facilitated through art, including literature. Folk stories are one literary genre that can be used to develop character, especially in children's education. Folk stories can be used as a medium to instil educational values in children. The tradition of storytelling has long been used in children's education in Indonesia and Malaysia. However, when the community changes rapidly due to the process of modernisation and even globalisation, the telling of traditional stories to children in educational practice becomes less widely embraced. Various types of games, based on digital technology, have marginalised the tradition of storytelling. Folklore contains moral, religious, educational messages that cannot be replaced by digital games. The consequence of this abandonment of traditional storytelling means disadvantaging the world of children's education, especially in character education. The richness of the message, the characterforming value found in a diverse range of folklore can be used for teaching children and the younger generation of a nation. This article discusses two folktales from two neighbouring countries, namely Indonesia and Malaysia. The two stories are titled "Batu Ajuang Batu Peti" from the Province of West Sumatra, Indonesia and "Si Tanggang" from Malaysia. Both of these stories have powerful messages that are very suitable to be told to children and the younger generation to form the character of the younger generation in both nations.
The problem of ecological crisis and exploitation of women is a topic that is often discussed today because it occurs in various parts of the world. The natural conditions and fate of women both in developing and developed countries are in an alarming condition because the development and exploitation of nature causes water, soil and air pollution. Women who use nature for their daily needs with development are forced to become objects of capitalist patriarchal exploitation. In addition, the degradation of nature due to the interference of science and technology causes the degradation of natural ecosystems so that the survival of other living things such as plants and animals is disrupted. This descriptive study aims to examine the issue of ecological crisis and exploitation of women found in the novel Surfacing by Margaret Atwood by using the ecofeminism theory of Vandana Shiva and Maria Mies. This research uses 3 variables: 1. Reduction of women's uterus, 2. Development, 3. Exploitation . This research is a library research. To see the colors of representation, researchers used the theory of ecofeminism introduced by Vandana Shiva and Maria Mies. The results showed an ecological crisis and exploitation of women found in the novel Surfacing, namely (1) the reduction of the womb of women with the presence of modern science, (2) pornography of women and exploitation of animals for commercial purposes, (3) development and illegal logging for various interests industry
The study aims to measure the level of students' understanding of ergonomics' principles with video. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method with the survey method. This research involved six students of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Education, especially Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). The data were obtained using a gradual questionnaire. The first stage before the respondent watched the learning video and after watching the ergonomic learning video for 15 minutes. The questionnaires were distributed randomly to students without choosing a gender. The instrument was compared before and after watching the video. The instrument was then analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis whereby the frequency and percentage are used to analyzed data. Learning video helps students to understand basic ergonomics principles easily. Input from the concept of this video is made to make fun and easy to understand by students. This study's purpose is achieved because it measures students' knowledge about the principle of ergonomics increasing after watching a video. The results show that student knowledge increases after watching the video Basic Ergonomics Principles at Work. Video learning can help students design a better understanding of basic ergonomics principles compared to entering the classroom.
