One of the educational objectives that is to improve analytical thinking skills. An improvement in analytical thinking skills can be initiated by analyzing the student’s thinking process when faced with a new problem. Meanwhile, the Lattice Method is a method of multiplication which is very rarely taught in the school so that few students know about. Therefore, this research aims to describe the process of analytical thinking students in understanding and applying the Lattice Method to solve mathematical problems. The method used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data has collect with tests and interviews. The subject’s determination uses a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that four subjects had interesting thought processes in understanding and applying LatticeMethod that they had never previously studied. S1 is able to understand the LatticeMethod in multiplication by explaining in detail the correct systematic and correlating the problem using the LatticeMethod. S2 is able to understand the problem but still not able to explain properly. S3 is able to understand the problem in its own way with the concept taught earlier. While, S4 is able to understand the problem in its own way without the concept of LatticeMethod.
In an effort to reduce maternal mortality, the Indonesian government launched the Expanding Maternal and Neonatal Survival (EMAS) program. One of its main objectives is to strengthen the referral system that can help in emergency situation and healthcare during pregnancy by using information and communication technology (ICT). It is implemented through such sub-programs as SIJARIEMAS, SIGAPKU, SIPPP, and SMSBunda. Brebes has the highest rate of maternal mortality in Central Java, which is included in the EMAS program. This paper aims to identify the effectiveness of SMSBunda in communicating with pregnant women in Brebes. From focus group discussion with pregnant women, the result showed that SMSBunda has not been taken seriously and people still rely more on their community for information related to their pregnancy.
The purpose of this article is to describe the communication strategy and to identify the obstacles faced by both the upper and lower level of the society in implementing EMAS. Research has been carried out in Brebes Regency because of the high case of maternal mortality. Data are compiled through various methods: observation, interview, FGD, and textual analysis and analyzed with interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman. Finding shows that Brebes has built networking with lower levels of society to socialize the programs through various media and forums in order to educate, to motivate, to persuade the society the importance of maternal health. However, this research also identifies some obstacles in program implementation. Finding shows the relatively refusal of all level of society in the ICT and the persistence of both the upper level to mobilize the society perception to change the myth and the lower level to accept the modern perspective on maternal health issues. Drawing from the relatively persistence of the society and the richness of local culture, the research suggests that rather than confronting the myth, local perspective should be considered as a strength in program implementation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
