In hemodynamically stable patients with blunt abdominal trauma, laparoscopy safely and effectively identifies small bowel injuries. Early recognition of these injuries and timely surgical treatment offer the best prognosis.

Pre-LT imaging underestimates tumour burden, and prediction of recurrence should be reassessed after LT. The explant-based "Up to seven" and Decaens models provided the best accuracy for prediction of 5-year recurrence, identifying only two levels of risk. New models are needed to further refine the prediction of recurrence after LT.

This clinical study reports that blood levels of the pro-inflammatory mediator platelet-activating factor (PAF) did not change in colorectal cancer patients. In contrast, plasma levels of two enzymatic activities, one implicated in PAF production (i.e. phospholipase A2) and one in PAF degradation (i.e. PAF acetylhydrolase activity) were significantly elevated.
