The purpose of this study was to examine the frequency and amount of water supply that provided the best production potential of Inerie kidney bean seed variety that were cultivated in the dry lowlands of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The variables observed were number of filled and empty pods, number and weight of seeds and weight of 100 seeds. The results of the study informed that the frequency of giving water every day gave the highest number of filled pods per plant which was 17.10 pods, the lowest number of empty pods per plant was 0.263 pods, the highest number of seeds per plant was 62.113 g, and the weight of the 100 best seeds was 44.668 g. The amount of water given twice each frequency of water gave the highest number of seeds, which was 54.708 grains, and the weight of the 100 best seeds was 43.487 g. There was a correlation between frequency and amount of watering for seed weight per plant which was 20,800 g. The results of this study informed that the Inerie variety has the potential to be developed in drylands of lowlands.
A tailor-made training (TMT) assembled by both Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Kupang (Politani Kupang) and Van Hall Larenstein of Applied Sciences, Netherlands (VHL) was conducted from the 9th to 13th November 2020. This training focused on the importance of establishing, maintaining, and broadening partnerships for a better institutional development. As many as 19 participants were invited to attend the training and were assigned into five groups based on the five prioritized commodities the institution was planning to expand further, which were: meat/beef, coffee, honey, shallot, and catfish. The training was organized through both online and offline methods. The online method implemented both an asynchronous pathway, in which all the materials were posted through Google Classroom and Whatsapp group, and an asynchronous pathway, in which the teaching-learning process was organized via ZOOM. For the in-person method, the participantswere taken to a field trip. By the end of the training, all the participants had understood the concepts of partnerships and their importance, how to construct and differ between a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Contract, how to achieve cultural awareness for a fruitful partnership, and how to outline a business plan and demonstrate a 3-minute pitch to be implemented on potential business partners during the field trip.
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of immersion using liquid smoke with different concentrations on the germination viability of Indigofera zollingeriana. The design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments: A0 = 0% liquid smoke, A20 = 20% liquid smoke, A40 = 40% liquid smoke, A100 = 100% liquid smoke, each treatment with 4 replications. The parameters observed were the germination viability, mean germination time, and mean daily germination. ANOVA analysis showed that the treatment had a significant effect on germination viability but insignificant on the germination rate and mean germination time. Treatment A0 was the treatment with the highest germination viability (75%), but the highest germination rate (0.34 cm/day) was in treatment A20. The higher the concentration of liquid smoke, the lower the germination viability, the germination rate and the mean germination time.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
