Objective: This study performed a meta-analysis of published trials to determine the effects of zinc on the immune response and production performance of broilers.Methods: A database was built from published literature regarding the addition of zinc forms or doses and their relation to the immune response and production performance of broilers. Different doses or forms of zinc were identified in the database. The recorded parameters were related to the immune response and production performance. The database contained a total of 323 data points from 41 studies that met the criteria. Then, the data were processed for a meta-analysis using a mixed model methodology. The doses or different forms of zinc were considered fixed effects, different studies were treated as random effects, and p-values were used as the model statistics.Results: An increase in zinc dose increased (p<0.05) pancreas metallothionein (MT) and zinc concentrations in the plasma, tibia and meat, all in quadratic patterns, but linearly decreased (p<0.05) the heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L) ratio. Regarding the different zinc forms, both inorganic and organic zinc increased (p<0.05) the zinc concentrations in the plasma and tibia, the calcium and phosphorus contents in the tibia, and the antioxidant activity of superoxide dismutase in meat as compared to control. An increase in zinc dose increased average daily gain (ADG) and decreased feed conversion ratio (FCR) following a quadratic pattern (p<0.05). Inorganic and organic zinc decreased (p<0.05) FCR and H/L ratio than that of control, but these two forms were similar for these parameters.Conclusion: Zinc addition has a positive impact on immunity and broiler production. Zinc can suppress stress and inhibit the occurrence of lipid peroxidation in broilers, and it can also improve ADG, FCR, and the quality of broiler carcasses.

DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.14334/jitv.v19i3.1084The objective of this study was to determine the potential of Indigofera sp. shoot leaf meal to substitute soybean meal in poultry diet. One hundred and sixty laying hens of Isa Brown strain, at 30 weeks old were used in this study and kept in individual cages. A Randomized Completely Design was applied with four treatments and four replications. The treatments were four levels of soybean meal protein substitution by Indigofera sp shoot meal protein in the diets: The level were 0% (R0), 15% (R1), 30% (R2) and 45% (R3). Eggs were collected daily and were evaluated on: weight, shell, albumen, yolk, intensity of yolk and haugh unit. Results showed that the nutrients content of Indigofera sp shoot leaf meal were crude protein 28.98%, crude fat 3.30%, crude fiber 8.49%, calcium 0.52% and phosphorus content was 0.34%. Indigofera sp shoot leaf meal contained a complete amino acids. The vitamin A and ß-carotene were high, i.e 3828.79 IU/100g and 507.6 mg/kg, respectively. It is concluded that Indigofera sp shoot leaf meal is potential to be used as an alternative source of protein. Substitute 45% soybean meal protein with Indigofera sp shoot leaf meal in laying hen diets increase egg quality and increase intensity of yolk colour to 55.88%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi nutrien yang dimiliki tepung pucuk Indigofera sp. (TPI) dan memanfaatkannya sebagai bahan pakan substitusi protein bungkil kedelai dalam ransum ayam petelur. Penelitian ini menggunakan ayam petelur strain ISA Brown umur 30 minggu sebanyak 160 ekor yang ditempatkan pada kandang individu. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap, terdiri dari 4 pelakuan dengan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini merupakan substitusi protein bungkil kedelai dengan protein TPI R0 = ransum kontrol, R1= substitusi 15% protein bungkil kedelai dengan TPI, R2 = substitusi 30% protein bungkil kedelai dengan TPI substitusi 45% protein bungkil kedelai dengan TPI. Telur dikumpulkan setiap hari untuk mendapatkan data berat telur, berat kerabang, berat putih telur, berat kuning telur, warna kuning telur dan haugh unit. Hasil evaluasi kandungan nutrien TPI adalah protein kasar 28,98%, lemak kasar 3,30 %, serat kasar 8,49%, kalsium 0,52% dan kandungan phospor 0,34%. TPI mengandung asam amino yang lengkap dan memiliki vitamin A serta ß-karoten yang tinggi, yaitu berturut-turut 3828,79 IU/100g dan 507,6 mg/kg. TPI berpotensi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pakan sumber protein. AbstrakGuru memiliki tugas yang beragam yang berimplementasi dalam bentuk pengabdian. Tugas tersebut meliputi bidang profesi, bidang kemanusiaan dan bidang kemasyarakatan. Tugas guru sebagai profesi meliputi mendidik, mengajar dan melatih. Mendidik berarti meneruskan dan mengembangkan nilai-nilai hidup dan kehidupan. Mengajar berarti meneruskan dan mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi. Sedangkan melatih berarti mengembangkan keterampilan-keterampilan pada siswa. Syarat yang berhubungan dengan pelajaran adalah guru hendaknya mengajarkan pelajaran yang sesuai dengan keahlian, guru hendaknya memiliki amanah ilmiah, guru hendaknya bersikap bijak dalam proses pembelajaran, guru hendaknya berpakaian bersih dan rapi. Syarat yang berkenaan dengan peserta didik maksudnya adalah guru hendaknya bersikap adil terhadap peserta didik, guru sebaiknya motivator bagi peserta didiknya dalam mencari ilmu pengetahuan, guru hendaknya memperhatikan tingkat perkembangan peserta didiknya, guru hendaknya melakukan evaluasi tehadap peserta didiknya. Untuk itu peserta didik harus dipandang secara filosofis menerima keadaan dan keberadaannya. Inilah prinsif dasar pendidikan untuk peserta didik sehingga proses pendidikan dapat berjalan dengan baik. Ada empat sifat anak didik yang harus dimiliki antara lain : 1)Seorang anak didik harus membersihkan hatinya dari kotoran dan penyakit jiwa sebelum menuntut ilmu, 2)Seorang anak didik harus mempunyai tujuan menuntut ilmu, 3) Seorang anak didik harus tabah dalam menimbah ilmu pengetahuan, 4)Seorang anak didik harus menghormati guru. The terms relating to students mean that teachers should be fair to students, the teacher should be a motivator for students in seeking knowledge, teachers should pay attention to the level of development of their students, and teachers should evaluate their students.According to law number 20 of 2003 on National Education System Chapter I, Article 1, Subsection 4, stated that: "Students are community members who try to develop their potential through the learning process that is available on certain pathways, levels and types of certain education (RI Law, No. 20 of 2003, 2003; 3)” That is why students must be seen philosophically to accept the situation and existence. This is the basic principle of education for students so that the educational process can run well. There are four characteristics of students that must be possessed, among others: 1) a student need to cleanse their scurrilous psyche and mental illness before studying, 2) a student must have a goal for studying, 3) a student must be resilient in seeking knowledge, and 4) a student must respect the teacher. Therefore the task of a teacher is not easy, those who are teachers must be able to carry out all their roles in providing motivation to students to increase and develop. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of piperine as a phytogenic feed additive on quail performances and egg quality. The experiment used a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications and used ten quails with one week of age in each replication. The piperine was added to the diets at concentrations of 0 (T0), 15 (T1), 30 (T2), 45 (T3), and 60 mg/ kg body weight (T4) for 8 consecutive weeks. The results showed that addition of 60 mg/kg body weight (T4) of piperine significantly (P<0.05) reduced feed consumption, egg production, egg mass, income over feed cost (IOFC), and increased water consumption as compared to the other treatments. The addition of 15-60 mg piperine/kg body weight significantly (P<0.05) reduced eggshell weight and increased egg yolk color score. The conclusion of this experiment was that the addition of piperine at 15-45 mg/kg body weight could be used as phytogenic feed additive to improve performance, IOFC, haugh unit, and yolk color.
