This research aims to analyze persuasive strategies used by the students of the English Department of Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP) in creating e-Brochures. Ten brochures are chosen in this qualitative descriptive research. The data are the persuasion strategies applied in the brochures. After analyzing descriptively using Aristotle's rhetorical 'proof; ethos, logos, and pathos are found in the brochures. It is interesting to see that these brochures which talk about the natural view as the tourism destination tend to have some combination of persuasive strategies. It is implied that to create a good brochure, the writer has to consider the norm and value, then convince the reader with some argument or reason, and show his/her feeling about the object of the brochure.
During the Pandemic Covid 19 outbreak, online learning has become the only medium for learning activities. The face to face classroom has been moved to an online classroom instantly without preparing the readiness of students, teacher, and school. Thus, this research aims at investigating the barriers of online learning class amid the pandemic of Covid 19 in English Department, Politeknik Negeri Padang. This is a qualitative study. The data taken from interview and observation. The respondents of this research are the lecturers of the English Department of Politeknik Negeri Padang who teach Writing for Media course and the 4th semester students who take Writing for Media class in the even semester this year. 2 majors challenge reported are the setting of online class and the technology. Formulating the online class syllabus with the proper activity and delivering style becomes the greatest teacher challenge. Then, the limitation of internet facilities is general problem for the students live in remote area.
Kampung Tematik dan Edukasi Eco Enzyme yang berada di Kecamatan Padang Timur merupakan bagian dari kegiatan Bank Sampah Andalas Sepakat yang telah beroperasi semenjak tahun 2019. Sayangnya, keberadaan dari kampung tematik ini masih belum diketahui oleh masyarakat luas. Padahal kegiatan yang dilaksanakan kampung tematik ini beragam dalam hal meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, merubah perilaku masyarakat dengan diversifikasi pengolahan sampah, dengan konsep reduce, reuse dan recycle. Untuk itu, kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah pembuatan video profil dari kampung tematik ini untuk memberi informasi menarik dan gambaran secara lengkap mengenai detail kampung tematik, secara kreatif dan inovatif, yang diunggah ke media-media sosial mereka. Ada tiga tahapan yang dilakukan untuk menghasilkan video profil bagi kampung tematik ini, yang dimulai dengan pre-production, production, dan post-production. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah video profil berdurasi 7 menit 35 detik, yang secara signifikan membantu menaikkan eksistensi kampung tematik ini di masyarakat luas, tidak hanya di Kota Padang.
