During the Pandemic Covid 19 outbreak, online learning has become the only medium for learning activities. The face to face classroom has been moved to an online classroom instantly without preparing the readiness of students, teacher, and school. Thus, this research aims at investigating the barriers of online learning class amid the pandemic of Covid 19 in English Department, Politeknik Negeri Padang. This is a qualitative study. The data taken from interview and observation. The respondents of this research are the lecturers of the English Department of Politeknik Negeri Padang who teach Writing for Media course and the 4th semester students who take Writing for Media class in the even semester this year. 2 majors challenge reported are the setting of online class and the technology. Formulating the online class syllabus with the proper activity and delivering style becomes the greatest teacher challenge. Then, the limitation of internet facilities is general problem for the students live in remote area.
Abstract:The research aims at improving the vocabulary mastery of students at Politeknik Negeri Padang for the 2015/2016 academic year by applying a blended learning model. Blended learning is an interactive learning model which combines face-to-face with web-based learning. Vocabulary is a vital sub-skill in mastering a language and thus a suitable topic for a classroom action research (CAR). The CAR theory applied is by Kemmis & L, (1998) and the Blended Learning theory used is by Bersin, (2004). The instruments are test, observation, field note and interview. Quantitative data are collected by a test result in which it is used to see how the student's vocabulary mastery progresses after applying the blended learning model. Qualitative data gathered included observation, field note and interview analyzed descriptively in order to find out the factors affecting student's vocabulary mastery by implementing Blended Learning..
This study aimed to describe the development of a blended learning model in the Writing in Media course in the face of the 4.0 era. This study uses the ADDIE model which is limited to the analysis stage. This study uses the following methods: observation with a tick observation technique, and notes; documentation with document analysis techniques; and survey with a questionnaire technique. Research data in the form of curriculum, SAP, and teaching methods. The results of the study indicate that (1) the curriculum must be revised to meet the knowledge needs of students and stakeholders, (2) the components and features of news must be mastered by students because many stakeholders need skills to work, (3) the application of a mixed learning model of writing for course media improve student skills and grades.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengembangan model blended learning pada mata kuliah Menulis di Media dalam menghadapi era 4.0. Penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE yang dibatasi pada tahap analisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode: observasi dengan teknik observasi centang, dan catat; dokumentasi dengan teknik analisis dokumen; dan survei dengan teknik kuesioner. Data penelitian berupa kurikulum, SAP dan metode pengajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kurikulum harus direvisi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengetahuan mahasiswa dan pemangku kepentingan, (2) komponen dan fitur berita harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa karena banyak pemangku kepentingan membutuhkan keterampilan untuk bekerja, (3) penerapan model pembelajaran campuran menulis untuk media kursus meningkatkan keterampilan dan nilai mahasiswa.
Writing brochure is one of the material given to the English department students of Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP) in Writing for Media subject. Realizing that writing brochure is different from academic writing, it is a need to formulate a model of writing a brochure as a part of learning material development in Writing for Media subject. This Research and Development used ADDIE Model (2015)and implements only 2 phases, analyzing and designing phase. In Analyzing phase, Curriculum analysis and Need Analysis were done. For curriculum analysis, observation and interview were conducted to determine the basic competence that need to be reached by the student and its appropriateness with the available learning material. Then, need analysis was done in order to find out the components that need to be written down in the brochure so that the field observation and interview were conducted. The result of this research is a model of printed travel package brochure written in English that consist of 686 words.
Language is a medium of communication and it is also dynamic. Language also is also influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors are like the users or the human, while the external factors are like the media, globalization era, etc. These causethe language becomes death. The writer focuses on analyzing the language death in Tanah Sirah, Lubuk Begalung sub-district, Padang.The writer collected the data trough note taking and interview. The theories used are from Mcmahon, Campbell and Muntzell. The result shows that noun is the part of speech included as language death. The part of speech that never occurs as language death is adverb and verb.The dominant of the cause of language death is because the things itself had disappeared from the society.
