This study aims to obtain fact about the level of reading skills of high school graduates who continue their studies at State Polytechnic of Jakarta level one, in terms of reading skills aloud and understanding the content of their reading shown by the use of word types and in arranging sentences that are correct in grammar. The benefit of this research is to improve the reading skills of learning techniques that lead to comprehensive competencies for specific skills that shape the integrity of the reading skill competencies, namely the ability to read aloud and the comprehension of reading contents. This research uses a qualitative approach. The class sample is assigned 4 classes, namely 2 classes from D-3 Business Administration Study Program, 1 class from D-4 Applied Business Administration Study Program, and 1 class from MICE Study Program, determined based on purposive sampling method. Research subjects were students who were registered in the sample class. Data were collected using written test techniques including material to understand reading content consisting of introduction to types of words, composing sentences to answer questions and reading test aloud. The collected data is then discussed and analyzed, measured based on predetermined scores and indicators. From the data discussed and analyzed, it can be found that the average reading aloud test result is 65.6 and the average test comprehends the reading content of 75.1. Based on indicators of reading aloud test, it can be concluded that the level of reading skill reached by the senior high school graduates, are substandard, inaccurate, and unclear. Based on the indicators understanding the contents of the reading, it can be concluded that the level of skill in understanding the content of reading achieved are the correct answer but found grammatical errors.
AbstrakPenelitian PENINGKATAN KEMAHIRAN BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS MAHASISWA POLITEKNIK NEGERI JAKARTA MELALUI MAGIC FIVE FINGERS METHOD ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemahiran berbicara bahasa Inggris mahasiswa PNJ khususnya mahasiswa Program Studi Akuntansi dan Program Studi Keuangan dan Perbankan serta untuk meningkatkan kualitas kinerja dosen dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, mengingat sampai saat ini hasil belajar mahasiswa dalam kemahiran berbicara bahasa Inggris masih belum memuaskan. Mencermati metode yang selama ini diterapkan seperti direct method dan grammar translation method belum mampu meningkatkan kemahiran mahasiswa dalam berbicara dengan penuh percaya diri tanpa keraguan. Pentingnya penelitian ini diusulkan, yakni untuk mendukung Renstra dan visi, misi serta tujuan PNJ menjadi politeknik unggul dimana bahasa Inggris menjadi faktor pendukung utama keahlian program studi. Penelitian ini diusulkan pelaksanaannya pada tahun 2017 ini, menggunakan pola penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) sehingga penelitian bersifat siklis. Data dikumpulkan melalui penggunaan teknik tes lisan berbicara. Tes diberikan sebagai bukti dari proses dan hasil belajar yang telah dilaksanakan pada pokok bahasan yang dipelajari mahasiswa dan dianalisis melalui teknik analisis deskriptif dan teknik analisis kritis. Output berupa hasil penelitian disampaikan dalam seminar nasional/internasional, dan publikasi dalam bentuk jurnal skala nasional. Outcome penelitian berupa bukti kemahiran berbicara yang dimiliki setiap mahasiswa yang telah mengalami treatment sebagai sampel. Dilaksanakan melalui tahapan Pra Siklus, Siklus 1, Siklus 2, Siklus 3. Pada akhir Siklus 3 diperoleh hasil skor nilai sebesar 80.4 dengan jumlah peserta didik yang berhasil mampu membuat kalimat pertanyaan dengan menggunakan verb 1, to be + verb-ing, modal auxiliary will, have/has + verb 3, dan will have + verb3 sebanyak 61 dari jumpal sampel sebanyak 89 orang. The community service activities carried out are training activities in writing superior scientific works. This training is important because the demands of expertise and attention to the value of great benefits as the competence of a principal and elementary school teachers in addition to the ability and skills in teaching subjects so that the professionalism of a principals and teacher is also reflected in his ability to write superior scientific works. This training was held for 2 days (7-8 October 2019) in the Hall of the KLP Office Cibinong Sub-District, Bogor Regency, with 40 participants, the determination was determined based on the purposive sampling method, representing 10 Teacher Working Group Clusters in the Cibinong Sub-District Environment. This training is indoor, meaning the activities are carried out in the hall. The delivery techniques uses lecture, question and answer, discussion, independent work, and structured assistance. Participants are guided and assisted to be able to produce a scientific work, in the form of papers or in the form of scientifric articles. From the results of this training activity 100% of the participants can produce a scientific work that he wrote independently.
The research is to disclose various records collected by Polytechnic records center, to know polytechnic leaders’ perception on records and records handling, on their evaluation on the records center performance, and on their expectation on the records center’s performance. Through quetionnaires and observation, ther researcher found out that inactive records are kept by records center while the active records are kept in the leaders’ working units. Although polytechnic leaders generally know what records are, but they do not realize that students Final Projects and Faculty staffs’ research reports are also records. They are also still doubtful to send the inactive records to records center. Beside that, although the records center’s work performance are still poor, unfortunately they also do not expect the records center to improve their performance. Keywords:Records, Records Center, Performance, Expectation ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui berbagai arsip yang dikoleksi atau dikelola oleh Unit Kearsipan dan memperoleh gambaran tentang persepsi para pimpinan di dalam mengelola arsip dalam rangka pelaksanaan tugasnya di Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, persepsi tentang kinerja unit Kearsipan dan harapan mereka terhadap kinerja Unit Kearsipan. Melalui kuesioner dan observasi, peneliti menemukan bahwa pada prinsipnya Unit Kearsipan menyimpan semua arsip yang sudah inaktif dan unit kerja menyimpan arsip yang masih aktif. Meskipun pemahaman pimpinan terhadap arsip sudah benar tetapi mereka belum menyadari bahwa laporan penelitian, laporan pengabdian masyarakat, dan Tugas Akhir juga merupakan arsip khas lembaga pendidikan tinggi seperti politeknik. Di samping itu, mereka juga masih canggung untuk menyerahkan arsip-arsip inaktifnya ke Unit Kearsipan. Mereka lebih baik menghubungi Unit Kearsipan saja ketika arsip sudah menumpuk. Pimpinan politeknik masih belum puas terhadap kinerja unit kearsipan tetapi pimpinan, anehnya, juga tidak terlalu mengharapkan kinerja Unit Kearsipan membaik.
