The present article is devoted to description of some major factors influencing the danger of a pedestrian crossings zone. The review of the factors affecting the number of «vehicles-pedestrians» conflicts in the pedestrian crossing zone was performed. An example of the developed program for determining the danger level of pedestrian crossings on the main streets was given. The paper explores the causes of accidents and ways to reduce their number through the use of targeted programs to improve traffic safety. The authors justify the choice of target indicators used in the development of such programs. The article gives an example of the development of a set of measures for one of the sections of Omsk city.
