The current study aimed to find out relationship between internet addiction, aggression and family relations in university students. Moreover, the study also examined the mediating role of family relations between internet addiction and aggression among university students. The University students were recruited as sample as researchers have found that majority of young adults use internet as time pass and become addicted but they are not aware of the addition (Hassan et al., 2020). Cross-sectional survey research design was used and data was collected through purposive sampling technique using Internet Addiction Test (Young, 1998), Aggression Questionnaire (Buss & Perry, 1992) and Index of Family Relations (Hudson, 1992). In addition, gender differences were also studied. Sample comprised of 300 students between the age of 18 and 35 years (M = 29.09, SD = 11.32). Bivariate correlation matrix revealed that internet addiction had significant positive relationship with aggression (r = 0.88, p < 0.01) and significant negative relationship with family relations (r = -0.86, p < 0.01). Moreover, mediating role of family relations was found to be significant in relationship between internet addiction and aggression among university students. However, gender differences were found to be non-significant on internet addiction, family relations and aggression among university students. The study will be useful in highlighting the importance of good family relations in minimizing adverse effects of internet addiction and aggression among university students.
Objectives: To investigate the differences in negative coping styles used by individuals with cannabis use disorder and non-users. Methods: The quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted from November, 2016 to August 2017 at Foundation University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and comprised individuals aged 15-34 years. Data was collected from drug rehabilitation and university students of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The sample was divided into groups of cannabis users and non-users. Data was collected using the brief version of the Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced inventory and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders version 5. Data was analysed using SPSS 21. Results: Of the 204 participants, 104(51%) were users with a mean age of 27±5.37 years and 100(49%) were non-users with a mean age of 25±5.65 years. The users scored higher at active avoidance coping compared to the non-users (p<0.05). The differences were non-significant in case of denial and religious coping (p>0.05). Active avoidance coping differed across individuals with mild, moderate and severe cannabis use disorder (p<0.05), while religious and denial coping did not (p>0.05). Conclusion: Active avoidance coping was found to be an important characteristic in relation Continuous...
Purpose of the study: The present research paper investigated the moderating role of perceived organizational support on the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and organizational performance. Methodology: The sample consisted of 205 employees from different organizations in Hattar Industrial State and Haripur, Pakistan. The Perceived Organizational Support (Eisenberger et al., 1986), the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (Podsakoff et al., 2009), and the Organizational Performance (Kuo, 2011) scales were used to attain the desired results. A purposive sampling technique was used with a cross-sectional survey research design. The employees from Hattar Industrial State were taken as the target sample. The statistical analysis was done using SPSS 21. The alpha reliability, Pearson correlation, t-test, ANOVA, linear and multiple regressions were calculated along with demographic analysis to meet the objectives of the study. Main Findings: Results indicated a highly significant positive correlation between OCB, POS, and OP. The results also showed that OCB and POS are significant predictors of OP. The gender differences are non-significant. The differences are significant between groups at upper, middle, lower, senior, and other management levels. The results showed significant differences between age groups with late age adults (46-60 years age) having high mean scores in organizational citizenship behavior and organizational performance. Among the demographic variables: age, average salary, and organizational size are significantly impacting organizational citizenship behavior, perceived organizational support, and organizational performance. The results indicated that perceived organizational support moderated the relation between organizational citizenship behavior and organizational performance significantly. Applications of the study: The study findings are important for organizations, officials, and managers to further develop work attitudes and work behaviors and enhance their performance and productivity. Novelty: Very few researchers have studied the employees in industrial settings. People spend a major part of their life in the workplace. Their work is affected by several organizational factors as well as their subjective factors. The impact of demographic variables has also been studied. Thus, this study provided insights into factors that affect employee performance.
