This paper presents the development of a DC-DC buck converter based static excitation system for a microalternator. The IGBT based AC to DC converter is used as Front End Converter (FEC) followed by a buck converter to control the field voltage of micro-alternator. TMS320F28377S microcontroller is used for digital implementation of the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). A proportional integral(PI) controller is used in the AVR. The proposed system is tested under various small and large disturbances like change in the reference voltage, 3phase fault at generator terminal, and sudden load rejection to study the performance of the proposed excitation system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
