Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN) is widely used in variety of applications but none of the applications have taken network security into considerations. Deployment of underwater network is a challenging task and because of the hash underwater environment, the network is vulnerable to large class of security attacks. Recent research on underwater communication focuses mainly on energy efficiency, network connectivity and maximum communication range. The nature of underwater sensor network makes it more attractive for the attackers. One of the most serious problems in underwater networks is wormhole attack. In this research work we concentrate on providing security to the underwater network against wormhole attacks. We introduce the wormhole attack in the network and propose a solution to detect this attack in underwater wireless networks. Energy Efficient Hybrid Optical-Acoustic Cluster Based Routing Protocol (EEHRCP) is incorporated and using the round trip time and other characteristics of wormhole attack, the presence of the wormhole attack in the network is identified. The simulation results depicts that the proposed wormhole detection mechanism increases throughput by 26%, reduces energy consumption by 3%, reduces end to end delay by 13% and increases packet delivery ratio by 3%.
Study of computer networks and their performance parameters like delay, bandwidth utilization, throughput, latency, jittering, and packet loss. have gained significant importance in the recent times. Simulation studies have been preferred for these parameters in computer networks, which in a real time is a difficult task. A network consists of many networking devices as gateways, routers, bridges, wireless access points and hub connected to it. To implement any new protocol or algorithm in a network is costlier and time consuming. Recently lot of research is going on underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs). Conducting real time experiments for underwater applications are overpriced, so as an alternative solution for this, we can conduct simulation studies to reduce the cost and quicken the research activities. In this paper we explore the different experimentation platforms and simulation tools available that help the network architects to develop new protocols or do changes to the existing protocol in a productive manner. We classify the tools based on various parameters and provide guidelines for researchers to choose a suitable platform based on their requirements.

The demand for underwater communication is growing at a faster pace since few decades. Maximizing the communication performance and building efficient network architecture for underwater communication is a challenging task. Due to the reduced bandwidth, high error rate, noise, propagation delay, water currents and increased cost in the network topology, the existing communication techniques are not feasible for underwater communication. Research in high speed underwater transmission technology has become a primary need in today’s world. By using underwater acoustic sensor network high transmission distance can be achieved but with lower data rates, high power consumption, larger delays and with higher cost. Underwater Optical Communication can be used to increase data rates and lower delays but it suffers from high attenuation due to which it cannot be used for data transfer over larger distances. Research in the area of hybrid sensor networks is a challenging task and has many open research challenges, which needs to be solved. In this paper we discuss the various architectures of underwater communication. A comparative study is made on different routing protocols and localization algorithms. The challenges faced by acoustic and optical communication are also discussed.

Innovation is the commercial application and successful exploitation of the idea. This means introducing something new into the business for improving or replacing business processes to increase efficiency and productivity. Development of entirely new and improved products and services for changing customer or consumer demands or needs, adding value to existing products, services, or markets is called business innovation. It is critical for any forward-thinking organization that technology plays a major role. Choosing technologies that will empower an organization is challenging. Today, technological innovations like internet-enabled mobile devices have allowed businesses to innovate news ways of doing things that were previously unthinkable. Innovation must be more than just technologically feasible and economically profitable. The successful exploitation of new ideas is crucial to a business being able to improve its processes, bring new and improved products and services to market, increase its efficiency, and most importantly, improve its profitability.
