This article evaluates the possible changes in the road freight transportation market as a result of sector regulation by the Brazilian Agency for Land Transportation (ANTT). The legal basis for those new regulatory frameworks are the publication of Law n. 11.442/07 and Resolution ANTT n. 3.056/09. Thus, this work analyzes the requirements for the entry of new carriers on road freight transportation market and to the permanence of carriers that are already operating in the sector. It can be concluded that the advent of new legislation changed the regulatory practices and industry structure.
