Consumption is a need that cannot be separated from humans. Consumption plays an important role in human life. However, there is a paradigm shift in the realm of consumption in this contemporary era. According to Jean Baudrillard, the phenomenon of consumption of contemporary society is no longer carried out because of needs and consumption nor is it done to obtain satisfaction or enjoyment but consumption is aimed at obtaining a certain social status. This study aims to elaborate on the thoughts of a postmodern philosopher, jean baudrillard in studying consumerism. The type of research used is library research which has the purpose of tracing and examining data or information about the thoughts of figures. The results of the study found that the consumerism of contemporary society in the view of Jean Baudrillard was formed by a social logic of differentiation. So that people's consumption is no longer a commodity but an individual's desire to continuously make differences or differentiations between himself and others.

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang pemikiran tokoh besar Indonesia, yang melakukan penelusuran atas data-data yang berbentuk konsep-konsep dan terformulasikan dalam berbagai tulisan. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini sepenuhnya merupakan Library Research (kajian pustaka) penelaahan buku-buku dan tulisan-tulisan yang ada kaitannya dengan pemikiran keislaman dan keindonesiaan Nurcholish Madjid. Kesimpulan dalam penilitian ini menjelaskan bahwa Nurcholish Madjid mencoba menetralisasi ketegangan hubungan Islam dan negara dengan menyerukan deislamisasi dan program sekularisasi serta desakralisasi. Menurut Nurcholish Madjid sekularisasi pada hakikatnya adalah rasionalisasi dan desakralisasi. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap peranan dan konsistensi Pesantren Tarekat terhadap pengembangan tradisi intelektual Islam dan moderasi beragama di Indonesia. Penelitian ini sekaligus menjawab dua problem besar umat Islam yang saat ini terjadi yakni surutnya tradisi intelektual dan mengikisnya kesadaran moderasi beragama, di mana dua hal tersebut telah lama terbangun. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis Teori Manajemen Teror dengan studi kasus Pesantren Tarekat bernama Roudhoh Al-Hikam, yang berlokasi di Cibinong, Kabupaten Bogor. Penelitian ini mengambil dua sumber data, yaitu data primer yang diperoleh dari hasil observasi lapangan dan wawancara, dan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari buku dan jurnal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertama, Pesantren Tarekat konsisten menghidupkan tradisi intelektual Islam khas Indonesia yakni melaksanakan dan mengembangkan kurikulum pendidikan Islam berbasis mazhab Syafi’i dan berteologi Asy’ari-Maturidi, yang bersumber dari kitab kuning. Kedua, kyai atau mursyid berperan besar terhadap keberhasilan pendidikan di pesantren sekaligus membangun sikap moderasi beragama. Ketiga, Pesantren Tarekat berperan atas munculnya pesantren atau lembaga pendidikan baru yang didirikan dan dikembangkan oleh para alumninya. Keempat, Pesantren Tarekat berperan dalam wacana moderasi beragama karena konsisten mengajarkan nilai-nilai etika Islam yang menjaga dan membentengi para santri dari pemahaman agama yang menyimpang. AbstractThis research aims to uncover the role and consistency of the Tarekat Islamic Boarding School in the development of Islamic intellectual tradition and religious moderation in Indonesia. This research simultaneously answers two major problems faced by the Muslim community today, namely the decline of intellectual tradition and the erosion of awareness of religious moderation, both of which have long been established. This research utilizes Terror Management Theory analysis with a case study of the Tarekat Islamic Boarding School, named Roudhoh Al-Hikam, located in Cibinong, Bogor Regency. The study collects data from two sources, namely primary data obtained from field observations and interviews and secondary data obtained from books and journals. The results of the study show that, firstly, the Tarekat Islamic Boarding School consistently promotes the distinctive Islamic intellectual tradition in Indonesia, namely by implementing and developing an Islamic education curriculum based on the Shafi'i school of thought and Asy'ari-Maturidi theology, sourced from the yellow book. Secondly, the kyai or mursyid plays a significant role in the success of education in Islamic Boarding School while also cultivating a mindset of religious moderation. Thirdly, the Tarekat Islamic Boarding School contributes to the emergence of new Islamic Boarding School, or educational institutions, established and developed by its alumni. Fourthly, the Tarekat Islamic Boarding School plays a role in the discourse of religious moderation by consistently teaching Islamic ethical values that safeguard and protect students from deviant religious understandings.
Islamic Boarding School as an educational institution makes a great contribution in the field of religion. Education in Islamic Boarding School considers that man is privileged with the ability to think to understand the universe, himself, and the signs of God's majesty. Erich fromm’s view man is actually an organism (living thing) in him there is a process of energy or passions that encourages satisfaction in the around world. If viewed in the perspective of Islamic Boarding School education, santri as a human being who is in an existential dilemma who is experiencing confusion and trying to find a way to overcome the existential problem. More spiritually Islamic Boarding School education is needed and has a role in this problem. Erich Fromm in his Dialectical Humanistic theory gives a view that the man who is in existence has basic needs and character. The purpose of this study is to examine the thinking of erich fromm as a paradigm of human existence that never ceases to be dialectic in the world of reality of its life. The methodology in this research is a library research method, which examines literature sources regarding the thoughts of figures and research objects contained in books, journals, or articles. The results of this study illustrate that humans in this case who pursue islamic boarding school education should be given a guide to be critical in terms of learning or in matters concerning humanity. Because in the view of Dialectical Humanist Theory erich fromm is actually a critical attitude towards human problems, which is to try to relax things that look out of line (opposite) and find solutions. Through education, learners or students will be able to recognize themselves and those around them by understanding their uniqueness.
