Objective:
National Interpersonal distance preference is considered a cultural characteristic. Interpersonal distance is critical for the spread dynamics of COVID-19. COVID-19’s spread trend shows various characteristics in different countries. We think that one of the factors influencing this variation could be national interpersonal distance preference.
Methods:
We employed regression analysis based on data of national interpersonal distance preferences (social, personal, and intimate) presented by Sorokowska et al. (2017) and COVID-19 growth rate data for 40 different countries which are calculated using OWD’s (2020) data.
Results:
National interpersonal distance preferences with its three dimensions significantly decrease the growth rate of COVID-19 in countries.
Conclusion:
Understanding the relation between national interpersonal distance preference and contagion growth of COVID-19 might be very useful information to be utilized in decision-making processes of individuals, societies and governments to develop culturally well-suited counter-pandemic politics, strategies, and procedures during COVID-19 pandemic or any upcoming epidemic or pandemic threats in the future, instead of standard fit-to-all strategies.
High level stress in work place is known to be associated with negative organizational behaviors and bad organizational performance. There are individual and organizational factors influencing stress coping behavior of employees. In this study we explore the impact of employees' perceptions of organizational support on their stress coping capabilities (problem-focused stress coping and emotionfocused stress coping) and whether their psychological capital (PsyCap) plays a mediating role in this relationship using the sample of employees in special education and rehabilitation centers in Turkey. Multivariate statistical analyses show a significant positive relationship between perceived organizational support (POS) and problem-focused stress coping (PFSC), and no significant relationship between POS and emotion-focused stress coping (EFSC). A significant positive association is detected between POS and PsyCap. Accordingly, our findings show that PsyCap plays a partial mediating role in the association between POS and PFSC.
Abstract Employees' loyalty toward organizations is decreasing gradually recently. This phenomenon negatively affects the dimensions of organizational behavior directly or indirectly. In this study, the effect of psychological capital on organizational identification, and the mediating role of perceived organizational support in this association are explored. Thereby, data based on the government employees in Bitlis Province (n=478) are analyzed (exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, regression analysis) and it is supported that psychological capital increases positively and significantly perceived organizational support and organizational identification. Besides, the mediating role of organizational support in the association between psychological capital and organizational identification is supported using tree step regression analysis and Sobel Test.
