The increased use of large areas of flat paved and sodded surfaces not only in airport‐construction but in express highways, parking‐lots, roofs of large buildings, etc., makes desirable the hydraulic investigation which Messrs. IZZARD and AUGUSTINE have reported as accomplished and projected for future experimentation [see 1 of “References” at end of paper]. They are to be commended for the precision of experimental measurements on the smooth, plane surface which is the base from which the investigation will be expanded to include the rougher‐paved and sodded surfaces which prevail in actual practice.
