Jasmonic acid (JA) is a key regulator of plant defense responses. Although the transcription factor MYC2, the master regulator of the JA signaling pathway, orchestrates a hierarchical transcriptional cascade that regulates the JA responses, only a few transcriptional regulators involved in this cascade have been described. Here, we identified the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor gene in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), METHYL JASMONATE (MeJA)-INDUCED GENE (SlJIG), the expression of which was strongly induced by MeJA treatment. Genetic and molecular biology experiments revealed that SlJIG is a direct target of MYC2. SlJIG knockout plants generated by gene editing had lower terpene contents than the wild type from the lower expression of TERPENE SYNTHASE (TPS) genes, rendering them more appealing to cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera). Moreover, SlJIG knockouts exhibited weaker JA-mediated induction of TPSs, suggesting that SlJIG may participate in JA-induced terpene biosynthesis. Knocking out SlJIG also resulted in attenuated expression of JA-responsive defense genes, which may contribute to the observed lower resistance to cotton bollworm and to the fungus Botrytis cinerea. We conclude that SlJIG is a direct target of MYC2, forms a MYC2-SlJIG module, and functions in terpene biosynthesis and resistance against cotton bollworm and B. cinerea.
Tourism-oriented countryside is a development object that cannot be ignored in Chinese rural revitalization. As a special type of countryside, urban expansion and development have led to the gradual reduction of rural areas, which, in turn, has led to the deterioration of the spatial structure of tourism villages and the interdependence between villagers, merchants, and tourists. This has caused the loss of vitality of rural tourism spaces and the hollowing out of tourism villages. In our study, we used Space Syntax, based on population analysis, to research the three major populations of villagers, merchants, and tourists in tourism-oriented countryside. We optimized a total of four categories of rural space: street space, cultural space, landscape space, and public facilities. We found that spatial optimization improves the spatial layout, spatial accessibility, and spatial compounding of spaces. By constructing a model of harmonious development of the spatial structure of tourism villages with villagers, merchants, and tourists, the problem of hollowing out of tourism villages can be effectively solved. This will ease the contradictory relationship between urban development and rural revitalization, promoting the sustainable development of Chinese society, economy, and culture.
Water quality evaluation is a progressively significant area in environmental research and developing sustainable solutions. Evaluation of water quality can be a process that includes multiple factors which can be causing an impact on water quality. Academics have developed many assessment indices to intuitively display the environmental waste management system results and water quality evaluation. Environmental waste management encourages industrial garbage's safe handling and use by offering comprehensive, up-to-date information on physicochemical, chemical, and environmental hazards in the sugar, pulp, and paper industries, tanning, distilling, fabrics, petroleum hydrocarbons, and agrochemical industries. The environmental waste management system's challenging characteristics include the subsequent produce having a reduced life span and hazardous waste management spaces. The notices that are not completed consistently are considered the vital factor. In this paper, the Multi-Criteria Generic Evaluation Sustainable Approach (MCGESA) has been proposed to improve the resultant product's quality, support environmental-friendly practices water quality, and reduce the globe's temperature to develop a sustainable solution the environmental waste management system. Partial sustainable product analysis is implemented to replace the disposal items with reusable items and maintain eco-friendly recycled products to develop the environmental waste management system. Municipal life cycle assessment is integrated with MCGESA to strengthen uniformity in waste management practices that help to develop integrated environmental waste management systems with a sustainable solution. The simulation analysis is executed based on Economic, Ecological, and efficiency analysis, proving the suggested framework's reliability using SWR.
