This study aimed to realize the impact of Electronic Information Resources on the scientific research movement at the Northern Border University. As it includes Electronic Information Resources provided by the university through the Saudi Digital Library, and many forms of sources such as databases, which include full-text databases, abstracts databases, bibliographic databases, as well as electronic books and electronic periodicals, these resources are characterized by the magnitude of content, continuous modernity, and linguistic diversity, the ability to permanently meet the needs of faculty members. The study sample consisted of 150 faculty members from all disciplines and academic degrees at the university, consistently standard of 137 faculty members from this sample. The study was keen to apply the survey methodology through the main measurement tool (the questionnaire), which consists of 16 main vocabularies that constitute the direction of measurement for the study. The study reached many results, the most important of which is that the high percentage of staff members use teaching Electronic Information Resources significantly, that they can meet teaching and research needs and upgrade academic, as well as there is a broad trend of satisfaction towards the use of full-text databases from other forms of databases. The study showed that the preferred form of access to the types of Electronic Information Resources is through the Saudi Digital Library for free, and there is a tendency of faculty members towards access through the home is larger than the university campus. In general, the study found a high percentage of faculty members ’satisfaction with the use of Electronic Information Resources and the extent of their impact on the flourishing of scientific research. Also, it recommended the necessity of increasing training programs towards using research methods for Electronic Information Resources and intensifying the use of the Internet through the university campus with linking Electronic Information Resources to academic courses.
The study aims at understanding the relationship between the use of IT applications in the Learning Resources Centers (henceforth, LRCs) at the university and increasing the academic achievement of the English language students at the Faculty of Education and Literature at the Northern Border University? The researcher relied on the research methodology of the field study, which allowed him to collect the views of a random sample of the English language learners at the university to measure and analyze the effectiveness of the use of IT within the LRCs. The study showed that the IT within the LRCs is one of the most important strategic resources at the level of educational institutions and the main factor in the development of its sectors. There is an interest from the Northern Border University on upgrading and supporting the IT infrastructure, especially in education for it is the basis for community development. A high proportion of English Language students at the university are keen on using and applying many of the technological learning media within the LRCs as a constitutive factor in understanding mental processes such as visualization, thinking, learning and creativity which is the first step towards knowledge and innovation.
The study aimed to measure the impact of social media on academic achievement among a sample of Northern Border University students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study seeks to reach a cognitive perception to recognize the effect of using social media on academic achievement in university students. It relied upon the quantitative and qualitative distribution of each type of social media application among students to determine the importance of social media informing study groups amongst themselves and with faculty members. This helped to identify the negative and positive effects of using social media applications on the process of academic achievement among Northern Border University students. To achieve those objectives, the researchers used the descriptive survey methodology, with the questionnaire used as a study tool. The most prominent results showed that a wide range of students at the University is highly interested in using social media in academic achievement and in communicating with the Faculty members. The study also concluded with a proposal to increase the activation of social media as an important tool for increasing the rate of academic achievement among Northern Border University students.
The purpose of the study was to identify the impact of digital resources in enhancing the quality of faculty members' scientific life at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University. It also aimed to investigate the role of digital resources in achieving job satisfaction for faculty members, including academic promotion and the quality of scientific research at global publishing databases. The study used the analytical survey method. The questionnaire was also utilized as the primary tool for data collection and to measure the impact of digital resources in achieving the quality of faculty members' scientific life. The study sample consisted of (114) Saudi female faculty members representing all scientific disciplines at the university. The study reached significant results indicating that the university's digital resources are one of the most important resources for enhancing the quality of faculty members' scientific and academic life. Therefore, the study recommended that faculty members should participate in setting policies and decisions related to their field of work. The study also recommended entrenching the value of transferring, using, and managing digital knowledge comprehensively. Besides, supporting in-depth studies that achieve the quality of the academic life cycle at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University. This study seeks to develop the infrastructure of the Gulf Electronic Scientific Research database (GESR), which depends on one of the integrated library systems that operate under the Machine readable cataloging (Henceforth, MARC21), The development of the database aims to optimize and expand the multi-language data display. As well as it enlarges databases reading resources of research systems in the Bibliographic Record MARC21, whether for basic search, advanced search, or specialized research. It also develops the capabilities of the fixed-length data field (008) to enhance the advanced search capabilities. The development system includes the expansion of crossing references to link the different forms of the main and added entries. The study aims at improving the application of RDA rules and the data display system according to the possibilities of the displaying form of the side sorting of the contents on the database website so that the lists of authors, title, keywords and biographies, Patents, institutions, and meetings. The research is based on the experimental analytical method, which depends on data analysis and processing through the integrated automated system, It presents the knowledge database as a unique system that combines the requirements of collecting and storing data availability and the technical work rules required by the MARC21 format. The researcher applied the analytical descriptive and the experimental approaches in order to identify the general and specific frameworks for the structure of the GESR database and to review the mechanisms for evaluating and developing the components of the integrated library system VTLS-VIRTUA.
