This study entitled Markedness Realization in Everything, Everything Movie Script. The research is meant to analyze how the Theme markedness realized in the clauses of the movie script. The theory that is used in this research is Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) proposed by Halliday (1994), regarded with textual function that observes clause as a message and analyzes it from the thematic structure in the term of Theme-Rheme. He states that Theme can be divided into two, unmarked Theme is an element that occupies the point of departure position of the clause, conflating with the grammatical subject and marked Theme is an element other than occupies the point of departure position of the clause, but does not conflates with the grammatical subject. The method that is applied in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The source of data were one of the most viewed romantic movies in 2017 script, Everything, Everything, taken from Springfield Springfield site. Data of the research were selected, based on the second character dialog of this movie script. The purpose of this research is to indicate the four types of markedness and to describe the realization of the Theme markedness in the movie script. The research findings showed that the dominant type of markedness realization is simple unmarked Theme with 69.4% percentage. This type of markedness dominated other kinds of markedness realization in addition to simple marked Theme with 2.4% percentage, multiple unmarked Theme with 27.1% percentage, and multiple marked Theme with 0.9% percentage.

This study wants to show how important the role of language in understanding culture is; but conversely , the role of culture is also very important in understanding language. It is true communication in language will achieve the target if the communication participant places the language in its cultural context. The theoretical umbrella in this study is anthropolinguistics which is the place of language in the social and cultural context of its society; especially in the task of analyzing the naming process for the Toba Batak community. In general, the Toba Batak people have a unique procedure for naming a child. William Shakespeare once stated "What's in a name" that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. If you gave another name to the rose, it would still smell good.) On the other hand, for most cultures in Indonesia, especially the Batak Toba culture, a name is supposed to be a prayer, hope or desire of the person who gave the name. A name is given to someone to distinguish someone from others; to make it easier for family/community members to call him, order him if necessary. Names are created and used, to be called, for the sake of practicality in everyday life. In fact, the naming process and the meaning of people's names in the Toba Batak community cannot be separated from the cultural values adopted by the community. It is known that every naming process is always accompanied by the use of certain traditional rituals. In the Toba Batak community, there are three names (goar) based on the meaning of naming the child, namely goar tulut, goar abalan and mampe goar. However, this study wants to examine one of the three goars, namely the abalan goar given to their children. By using a qualitative descriptive method and an ethnographic approach, it will be studied and traced the existence of a connection between the meanings and cultural values of the abalan goar of the Toba Batak community.
This paper entitled ‘Non-Verbal Communication by Autistic Children’ was conducted with the aim to find out the components of kinesics as a part of nonverbal communication expressed by autistic children when interacting with their teachers at SLB ABC Taman Pendidikan Islam. Beside that this study also intended to know the meanings of those kinesics components expressed by autistic children when interacting with their teachers. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach by applying kinesics theory by Ray Birdwhistell. The data collection techniques were conducted by using non-participant observation techniques and documentation. The documents used to support this study were in the form of photographs and video recorder that showed the communication done by the autistic children with their teachers during the learning process in the class. The results showed that although autistic children cannot interact clearly through verbal communication, they can express their desires through non verbal communication. They can communicate by expressing it through facial expressions, eye contact, body movement, posture and touch. The meaning of the non-verbal communication expressed by each autistic child has a different meaning. This study also intended to give worthy contribution to all people who want to understand the non-verbal communication of autistic children.
