The main purpose of this study is to compare the efficiency performance of high school education in Indonesia based on its specialization groups, namely natural and social sciences. This study uses secondary data of high school published by Ministry of Education and Culture of Republic of Indonesia in 2016 which covers general description such as the numbers of schools, students, teachers, graduates, classes, et cetera. This study uses a bootstrap approach that is applied in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, which compares the efficiency of each Decision Making Unit (DMU). To compare its efficiency, as many as 34 provinces are used as DMUs by using six input variables, namely the number of participants of national exam, students, schools, teachers, libraries, and the number of classrooms. The output variables are the number of graduates, the average score of national exam in Indonesian, English, and mathematics.The results indicate that all provinces have very good performance in organizing high school education for both natural and social sciences where the average efficiency scores of the traditional DEA are .99 and .98 for natural and social sciences, respectively. Meanwhile, its average scores from bootstrapped DEA are .98 and .96 for natural and social sciences, respectively. The empirical results also reveal that bootstrapped DEA provides better accuracy of efficiency scores than the traditional DEA. Overall, the provinces in Indonesia have better performance in organizing natural science than social science. PERBANDINGAN EFISIENSI KINERJA SEKOLAH JURUSAN ILMU ALAM DAN SOSIAL:BOOTSTRAPPING DATA ENVELOPMENT ANALYSIS Abstrak: Tujuan utama penelitian adalah untuk membandingkan efisiensi kinerja pendidikan sekolah menengah di Indonesia berdasarkan kelompok penjurusan, yaitu ilmu alam dan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder sekolah menengah yang dipublikasikan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia pada tahun 2016 yang mencakup gambaran umum seperti jumlah sekolah, siswa, guru, lulusan, kelas, dan lain-lain. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan bootstrap yang diterapkan pada metode Data envelopment Analysis (DEA), yang membandingkan efisiensi tiap unit pengambilan keputusan (DMU). Untuk membandingkan efisiensi kinerja, sebanyak 34 provinsi digunakan sebagai DMU dengan menggunakan enam variabel input, yaitu jumlah peserta ujian nasional, siswa, sekolah, guru, perpustakaan, dan jumlah ruang kelas. Variabel output yang digunakan adalah jumlah lulusan, nilai rata-rata ujian bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Inggris, dan matematika. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa semua provinsi memiliki kinerja yang sangat baik dalam menyelenggarakan pendidikan sekolah menengah untuk ilmu alam dan sosial dengan skor rata-rata efisiensi DEA tradisional masing-masing 0,99 dan 0,98 untuk ilmu alam dan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fungsi manajemen pembelajaran mapel rumpun PAI berbasis scientific approach di MIN seEks Karasidenan Pekalongan, kendala atau hambatan yang dialami pendidik dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran mapel rumpun PAI berbasis scientific approach dan respon peserta didik setelah proses pembelajaran mapel rumpun PAI berbasis scientific approach. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan field research yang berusaha menelusuri salah satu fungsi manajemen yaitu implementasi pembelajaran mapel rumpun PAI berbasis scientific approach di MIN se-ekskarasidenan Pekalongan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan berbagai macam tehnik sebagai berikut: teknik wawancara, teknik observasi, dan teknik dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) implementasi pembelajaran mapel rumpun PAI berbasis scientific approach di MIN se-eksKarasidenan Pekalongan secara umum telah berjalan dengan baik, penuh motivasi, kreatif dan inovatif serta sistematis sesuai dengan langkah-langkah pembelajaran menggunakan rumusan 5 M; (2) Kendala yang dialami oleh para pendidik mapel rumpun PAI di MIN se-ekskarasidenan Pekalongan dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berbasis scientific approach bersumber paling tidak pada tiga hal: pertama, aspek pribadi peserta didik, kedua, aspek kompetensi pendidik, dan ketiga, aspek ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana pembelajaran; (3) respon yang ditunjukkan peserta didik setelah proses pembelajaran mapel rumpun PAI bebasis scientific approach secara umum baik dalam arti peserta didik menjadi lebih aktif dan komunikatif, proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih dialogis dan peserta didik menjadi lebih kritis, memiliki semangat dan rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi.
Promoting moderate Islam in the education sector to prevent radicalism and violent extremism, particularly in Indonesia’s Islamic universities has been considered important. This study demonstrated how values of moderate Islam empower student to prevent radicalism and violent extremism in university. This research is qualitative case study. Eight students and two teachers at a public Islamic university in Central Java, Indonesia were recruited to participate. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and observation. The result of the study shows that the values of tolerance, inclusivity, flexibility, and objectivity in understanding religious texts were internalized to empower students as agents of religious moderation. The presentation of learning materials were adopted from national journals, reputable international journals, websites, and official social media platforms for moderate Muslim intellectuals. The materials contributed significantly to the prevention of hate speech and hoaxes.
Despite studies in the realm of Islamic education teaching has been extensively conducted, the application of Islamic education curriculum in Indonesian secondary schools receives scant academic attention from the previous researchers. To fill this void, the present exploratory case study aims to explain practices of Islamic education enacted as a nationally-mandated school subject in secondary schools and to explore to what extent the Indonesian government supports Islamic education teachers to handle this compulsory school subject. Four Islamic education teachers of junior secondary schools volunteered to participate in this research. Data were garnered through classroom observation and in-depth interviews. Framed in thematic analysis, this study reports that the syllabus, lesson plan, learning resources, classroom-based practices, and authentic assessment required thorough concern. In response to this, the government support was needed to promote the best practices, i.e. teacher professional development and provision of sufficient school facilities. To policy authorities in Indonesia, the study recommends facilitating Islamic education teachers with sustainable professional development and redesigning the government-prescribed textbooks to foster teacher creativity in their teaching and learning processes.
The use of media in MTs YMI Wonoringgo Pekalongan is still not optimal, especially in a mathematic lesson. It causes student difficulty in understanding the concepts conveyed by the teacher and low motivation so that students are less able to solve problems in studying. Thus, it is hoped that through Arabic angle o’clock game media, students can more easily understand angle math concepts and mastering Arabic vocabulary of o’clock material. The purpose of this study is to produce an android-based Arabic angle o’clock game media in learning mathematics to eighth grade at MTs YMI Wonopringgo Pekalongan. The research method uses the waterfall model (Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, and Maintenance). The research subjects were students of eighth grade at MTs YMI Wonopringgo Pekalongan. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling. The result of this study are Arabic angle o’clock game media with the result of the media expert validation with a percentage of 89%, the results of the material expert validation of were 90%, and student responses 88,14% with very suitable/very feasible criteria. Thus, this product is appropriate to use as mathematics learning media in angle o’clock material and increase student to mastering Arabic vocabulary about o’clock in MTs YMI Wonopringgo Pekalongan.
