In order to assess the factors that affect the success of entrepreneurs of small and medium sized enterprises of Bangladesh, survey data were collected from eighty entrepreneurs from the southern region of Bangladesh selected through random sampling technique. Success factors here refer to demographic characteristics and environmental factors that impede the business success of entrepreneurs of small and medium-sized enterprises of Bangladesh. The results indicate that that the success of the entrepreneurs was correlated to all independent variables in the study and all hypotheses were supported. Lack of infrastructure, sound political environment, access to market and capital were the major factors that positively hindered the success of the entrepreneurs. Experience and education were positively correlated while age was negatively correlated to success. The regression models fit for regression equations were determined by F statistics. The models indicate positive and statistically significant relationship. Altogether demographic variables explained 26.9% of the total variance in Business and Economic Research ISSN 2162-4860 2013 www.macrothink.org/ber 39 success while environmental variables explained 39.8% of the total variance in success.
The powerful stimulator of desired human behavior is emotional intelligence. The current investigation makes an effort to look into the relative influence of emotional intelligence on the behavioral outputs of employees in diverse Bangladeshi organizations. The method of purposive sampling was used to collect responses from 412 participants. The author applied Emotional Quotient Index (EQ Index) as well as different measurement instruments to evaluate employees’ emotional intelligence and their behavioral outcomes at the workplace. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and linear regression. Quantitative outcomes from this analysis demonstrated a favorable relationship between emotional intelligence and desired behavioral outcomes, specifically, group cohesion (r=0.72, p<.01) and productivity (r = 0.70, p <0.01). Results uncovered a significant negative relationship (r= -0.58, p <0.01) between emotional intelligence and deviant workplace behavior. These exclusive outcomes will move academics, decision-makers, and industry leaders from a variety of businesses to foster emotional intelligence in them in order to achieve more preferable working outcomes and to defend against undesirable deviant conduct.
The study examined the factors that affected Labor-Management Relations in the context of employees’ satisfaction in Garments Industry of Bangladesh. The data for the study were collected from both primary and secondary sources. Primary sources relied on interview method with the help of a structured questionnaire for self-guidance. All hypotheses were tested using regression analysis and Pearson correlations controlling for background variables of gender, marital status, and age. The study revealed that all dimensions of labor-management relations were positively and significantly correlated to employee satisfaction and overall labor-management relations. Implications, limitations, and directions for further research were discussed.
