The dynamics of indicators of the component composition of the seamen’s organism of the surface ship of the Navy in the conditions of a long march in interaction with the crew’s feeding habits is considered in the article. The actual nutrition of the surveyed persons was estimated using the calculation method based on the analysis of the chemical composition and energy value of the products of the daily diet, taking into account the culinary losses described in the handbook on the chemical composition and caloric content of Russian foodstuffs edited by V. A. Tutelyan. Standard data on incomplete digestibility by a person of various classes of nutrients are taken into account. In the organization of the actual power supply of the crew there were shortcomings associated with a decrease in the energy value of the ration, an imbalance of mineral and vitamin compounds, due to the actual assortment of products obtained for marching at the rate of sea rations. Estimated content of vitamins (-carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and ascorbic acid) and mineral substances (potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron) in the daily diet throughout the long maritime expedition was significantly lower than those regulated by medical and technical requirements the norm of sea rations. Changes that have a nonrandom character occurred according to the indices of abdominal fat: waist circumference and waist-hip index. By the end of the campaign, 71% of the surveyed had a tendency to increase their body weight. At the same time, the body weight increased due to both subcutaneous and abdominal fat, which was reflected in the increase in visceral fat, body fat and body mass index. The data obtained in the course of the work confirm that the existing ration does not need to increase its energy content, but requires improvement in quality composition. Based on the data obtained, it is proposed to increase the protein content in the diet with the reduction of fats and simple carbohydrates using rational substitutions; increase the proportion of fresh fruits and vegetables to improve digestion.
The purpose of the paper is to assess the influence of the nutritional factor on lipid metabolism in young military men. Materials and methods. The objects of the study were young conscripted men aged 19.3±1.2, who feed on combined arms ration (n=71). Lipid metabolism indicators (cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, very low density lipoproteins and atherogenic index) were assessed in military men. For this purpose, chromatography-mass spectrometry (Beckman Coulter AU480 automatic biochemical analyzer) was used. The study was conducted in the consultative and diagnostic polyclinic of the medical and diagnostic center, Military Medical Academy. The assessment of the studied indicators was made 60 days apart in the autumn-winter period. Nonparametric methods were used for statistical processing of experimental data. Risk analysis of the potential influence of the nutritional factor on lipid metabolism was carried out. Results. Differences in the lipoprotein content in the servicemen blood serum at the beginning and end of trial were random. Levels of cholesterol levels and low density lipoproteins, as well as atherogenic index decreased significantly. Conclusion. During the study, no statistically significant negative changes in lipid metabolism were found. Risk assessment of potential violation of the nutritional status in young military men indicates a favorable effect of nutrition on their lipid metabolism.
Historical materials about the life and work of G.V. Khlopin, an outstanding scientist and hygienist, who created his own large scientific school. The main activity of which was the development of prevention and public hygiene. Biographical data are given, and scientific activity in the pre-revolutionary and Soviet periods is analyzed. The main directions of research work in the field of General hygiene, water supply hygiene, food hygiene, school hygiene, work in the field of anti-epidemic and anti-chemical protection are presented. The role of G.V. Khlopin in the formation and development of experimental hygiene is emphasized. The article describes his many-sided activities as a Professor of the Department of hygiene at the Military medical Academy, as well as his organizational and pedagogical activities, which laid the foundations for teaching hygiene at the higher medical school based on numerous textbooks and manuals published by him. The author notes the encyclopedic nature of knowledge, the great erudition of the scientist in all matters of hygiene, his unflagging ability to work, which made it possible to create capital guidelines on hygiene based on the works of domestic researchers. Attention is drawn to the activities of G.V. Khlopin in the creation of the Institute of preventive Sciences named after Z.P. Solovyov, organized with the aim of improving the educational process and research activities, as well as his work as a consultant to the Main military sanitary Department of the Workers and peasants red Army. A high assessment of the work of G.V. Khlopin, who holds the rank of full state Councilor, for the benefit of Russia, is the award of the order of St. Nicholas. Vladimir and SV. Stanislav, and in the years of Soviet power conferring the honorary title of honored scientist.
The nutrition of food for the crews of surface ships (vessels) of the Navy in a long sea cruise was studied to assess the energy and plastic adequacy of the current diet. The indicators of the chemical composition and energy value of the average daily diet are determined taking into account natural technological losses. Standard data on incomplete digestibility of nutrients are taken into account. It has been established that the full compliance of the composition of the consumed food with the norm of sea rations is not ensured. Some mineral elements and vitamins are contained in the food prepared in insufficient quantities. Consequently, in a long maritime campaign, actually consumed food for energy value does not fully ensure the daily energy expenditure of this category of specialists. However, this is not confirmed by the anthropometric and component indices of the body composition revealed before and after the long hike: an increase in the waist-hip index (medians of 0,85 and 0,91 eu, respectively, p=0.008); an increase in the percentage of adipose tissue in the body (medians 15,3 and 18,5%, respectively, p=0,044). Established in the course of work, the dynamics of the body composition of servicemen in a long sea cruise testifies to the non-observance of the principle of energy adequacy of feeding the crew in the direction of exceeding its calorific value. Thus, the current diet (sea ration) does not need to increase its energy content, but it requires improving its composition and compensating for the deficiency of vitamins and certain trace elements by introducing modern vitamin-mineral complexes into the diet.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
