The economic transformations in Russia have brought to the forefront a number of very complex problems that stem from deep-seated social and structural processes whose dynamics are determined, to quite a large extent, by qualitative changes in relations of property ownership, power, and income levels of various strata and groups of the population. Social differentiation encompasses a broad range of "basic" and "superstructural" relations, reflecting as it does changing principles in the social stratification of society. The very nature of social structure components has changed, and new strata and sociocultural formations have emerged.
