Antibiotics from the aminoglycoside group, such as gentamicin, are frequently used for the infection therapy of gram-negative bacteria including Salmonella typhi. Some studies show that gentamicin can cause hepatotoxicity and increase the level of SGPT (serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase). The purpose of this research is to figure out the decreasing SGPT level of male Wistar rats induced by gentamicin with the purslane ethanol extract. This research employed a post-test only control group design, utilizing 25 male Wistar rats divided into 5 groups. The normal control group (NorG) was without any treatment, while the positive control (PG) was intraperitoneally injected with gentamicin 60 mg/kg of rat body weight. The treatment groups consisted of P1, P2, and P3 were intraperitoneally injected with gentamicin at the dosage of 60 mg/kg of rat body weight for 7 days and then administered with purslane ethanol extract respectively at the dosage of 200, 300, and 400 mg/kg of rat body weight per oral for 7 days. The analysis on the SGPT level was conducted with the IFCC modification method using chemistry analyzer. One way ANOVA test shows that there were significant differences in SGPT levels among groups. LSD post hoc test shows that purslane ethanol extract at the dosage of 400 mg/kg of rat body weight significantly decreased the SGPT level (p<0.05) when compared to the positive control group. The administration of common purslane ethanol extract at the dosage of 200, 300, and 400 mg/kg of rat body weight can decrease the SGPT level of male Wistar rats induced by gentamicin.

The Portulaca oleracea L. commonly known as purslane is distributed all over the world and easily grows in diverse soil and climatic conditions. It has been traditionally used as a nutritious and ethnomedicinal food across the globe. Various studies have shown that the plant is a rich source of various important phytochemicals such as flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, proteins, carbohydrates, and vitamins such as A, C, E, and B, carotenoids and minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and zinc. It is particularly very important because of the presence of a very high concentration of omega-3- fatty acids especially α-linolenic acid, gamma-linolenic acid and linoleic acid, which are not generally synthesized in terrestrial plants. Various parts of purslane are known for ethnomedicinal and pharmacological uses because of its anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, skeletal muscle relaxant, antitumor, hepatoprotective, anticancer, antioxidant, anti-insomnia, analgesic, gastroprotective, neuroprotective, wound healing and antiseptic activities. Due to multiple benefits of purslane, it has become an important wonder crop and various scientists across the globe have shown much interest in it as a healthy food for the future. In this review, we provide an update on the phytochemical and nutritional composition of purslane, its usage as nutritional and an ethnomedicinal plant across the world. We further provide a detailed account on ethnopharmacological studies that have proved the ethnomedicinal properties of purslane.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of internet-enabled accessory containing integrated sensors and actuators for external communication. The numeral of devices attached to the Internet is rising at a fast rate because of their extensive uses in several fields, like health care farming, sports, and patient safety. The IoT is a concept that considers the persistent presence of wireless, cable, interactive, communicable and collaborative things and objects and that allows new services to achieve common goals, such as diagnostic of symptoms of disease, treatment, a patient cure. The internet offers various healthcare applications from remote monitoring to intelligent sensors and the integration of medical devices. Healthcare IoT can also increase patient involvement and happiness by allowing patients to spend more time with their physicians. A promising technology is now made of IoT-enabled wearable sensors that allow continuous wireless monitoring of critical physiological variables. The focus here was on developing a combination product that was the development of smart metered-dose inhalers, one of the most visible areas of digital pharmaceutical involvement by studying related work. This digital technology was developed in order to improve lung diseases like asthma and COPD and to improve the efficiency of the prescribed media. These monitoring devices connect themselves to the inhaler of your user and should ideally be able to monitor compliance, record the accuracy of every dose, retain data, and not allow access to data to download to the computer for dosing regimen by doctors.
