Anticholinesterse and antioxidant investigations of crude extracts, subsequent fractions, saponins and flavonoids of atriplex laciniata L.: potential effectiveness in Alzheimer’s and other neurological disorders

Abstract: BackgroundAtriplex laciniata L. was investigated for phenolic, flavonoid contents, antioxidant, anticholinesterase activities, in an attempt to explore its effectiveness in Alzheimer’s and other neurological disorders. Plant crude methanolic extract (Al.MeF), subsequent fractions; n-hexane (Al.HxF), chloroform (Al.CfF), ethyl acetate (Al.EaF), aqueous (Al.WtF), Saponins (Al.SPF) and Flavonoids (Al.FLVF) were investigated for DPPH, ABTS and H2O2 free radical scavenging activities. Further these extracts were su… Show more

“…A variety of medicinal plants have been indicated for the treatment of infectious diseases in different phytotherapy manuals due to their reduced toxicity, fewer side effects and frequent availability. Different studies have been conducted on the antimicrobial potentials of plants and their efficacy has been reported in the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory, cutaneous infections, neurological and gastrointestinal disorders [38, 39]. …”

“…[70][71][72] Nonetheless, these secondary metabolites have also been reported to possess antimicrobial, antioxidant and other beneficial effects. [36,[73][74][75][76] Moreover, the florescence analysis of the samples of R. hastatus revealed various colors under different wavelengths. The fluorescence analysis is a significant system of identification of powdered drugs with their particular references.…”
