Mushrooms are precious fungi, which exists as an important and integral component of the ecosystem. They are the macro or larger fungi which possess fleshy, subfleshy, or sometimes leathery, umbrella like fructifications, which bear their spore producing surface either on lamellae (gills) or lining the tubes, opening out by means of pores. Usually the lamellate members are called ‘mushrooms’ or “toadstools’ depending upon whether or not they are edible or poisonous and therefore the tube bearing poroid members, as boletes. Mushrooms are seasonal fungi, which occupy diverse niches in nature within the forest ecosystem. Different types of edible mushrooms are cultivated on large scale for commercial use and many more species of mushrooms grow wildly in nature which has much nutritional and medicinal value. They predominantly occur during the season and also during spring when the snow melts. In the globe, biodiversity includes not only many species that exist, but also the range of populations that makeup a species and the genetic diversity among individual life forms. Macrofungi are important economically due to their importance in food, medicine, biocontrol, chemical, biological and other industries. Macrofungi are diverse in their uses as food and medicine and a number of other species function as decomposers and also form mycorrhizal associations.

Jamur memiliki peran yang vital dalam proses ekologi, merupakan salah satu indikator kesehatan suatu ekosistem, memiliki potensi obat dan pangan serta berbagai potensi yang belum tergali. Arboretum memiliki potensi yang tinggi untuk konservasi hayati termasuk jenis jamur, sehingga informasi keragaman dan potensi sangat penting untuk dasar pengelolaannya. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui keragaman jenis dan potensi jamur makroskopis yang ada di Arboretum BP2LHK Manado. Penelitian dilakukan selama 8 kali pengamatan di bulan Mei, Juni, dan September 2016 menggunakan cruise method dan opportunistic approach untuk mengumpulkan tubuh buah jamur sebanyak mungkin. Pengumpulan data media tumbuh, intensitas cahaya, suhu tempat tumbuh digunakan sebagai pendukung. Hasil penelitian mununjukkan bahwa aboretum ini menyimpan 48 jenis jamur makroskopis dengan karakteristik yang berbeda, 39 jenis telah diketahui nama ilmiahnya, terbagi menjadi 2 divisio, 6 kelas, 9 ordo, dan 17 famili, 9 jenis lainnya belum diketahui nama ilmiahnya. Hasil ekplorasi menunjukkan bahwa keragaman habitat jenis jamur makroskopis didominasi oleh 31 jenis tumbuh pada kayu lapuk, 11 jenis tumbuh pada seresah, dan 6 jenis tumbuh pada tanah. Berdasarkan kajian potensi terbagi menjadi 2 jenis tidak dapat dikonsumsi karena beracun, 1 jenis berpotensi sebagai pangan dan obat, 2 jenis jamur pangan, 5 jenis berpotensi obat, 19 jenis tidak bisa dikonsumsi, dan 19 jenis belum diketahui manfaatnya. Fungi have a vital role in ecological processes, as an indicator of health of an ecosystem, it is not only has the potency for medicine and food but also variety of unexplored potential. Arboretum has high potential for biological conservation including fungi species, so information on its diversity and potency are very important for the basis of its management. The purpose of this research was to explore the diversity of species and the potential of macroscopic fungi in the BP2LHK Manado Arboretum. Observations were conducted 8 times in May, June, and September 2016 using a cruise and an opportunistic method. The infromation of growth media, light intensity, and temperature were collected as a supporting data. The result showed that arboretum stored 48 species of macroscopic fungi with different characteristics. 39 species were identified, divided into 2 divisions, 6 classes, 9 orders, and 17 families, while the remaining 9 species were unidentified.. The results showed that the diversity of macroscopic species habitat were dominated by 31 species grown on necromass, 11 species grown on litter and 6 species grown on soil. Based on its potential, there were 2 species of toxic fungi, 1 species of edible and medicinal fungus, 2 species of edible fungi, 5 species with medicinal fungi, 19 species were not edible, and 19 species with unknown benefits.
