Chitinimonas viridis sp. nov., isolated from a mesotrophic artificial lake

Abstract: A Gram-staining-negative, rod-shaped bacterium, strain HMD2169 T , was isolated from a mesotrophic artificial lake in Korea. Strain HMD2169T grew in the presence of 0-3.0 % (w/v) NaCl, at pH 5-10 and at 20-37 6C. The predominant quinone of strain HMD2169 T was ubiquinone (UQ)-8. The major fatty acids were summed feature 3 (comprising C 16 : 1 v7c and/or C 16 : 1 v6c), C 16 : 0 and summed feature 8 (comprising C 18 : 1 v7c and/or C 18 : 1 v6c). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidy… Show more

“…The predominant respiratory isoprenoid quinone of strain R3-44 T was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8), which was consistent with other members of the genus Chitinimonas [1][2][3][4][5][6]. The major fatty acids (relative amount >7.0 %) of strain R3-44 T were summed feature 3 (comprising C 16 : 1 ω7c and/or C 16 : 1 ω6c, 40.6 %) and C 16 : 0 (29.3 %).…”

“…The genome contained a wide variety of ABC transporters genes, including those involved in ferric iron, manganese, molybdenum, pyrimidine, urea, vitamin B12 and zinc transport, which may be closely related to the colonization and survival of strain R3-44 T in the polar region environment. Thirty-eight oxidative stress proteins were found in the genome, which may help strain R3-44 T adapt to the extreme [3]. †Data from Padakandla and Chae.…”

“…The DNA G+C content was determined by using the thermal denaturation fluorimetic method described by Gonzalez & Saiz-Jimenez (2002) and Joung et al (2014). For the DNA G+C content analysis, a real-time PCR was carried out using the iQ5 thermocycler (Bio-Rad).…”
