Background: The lack of information and low knowledge for adolescent reproductive health (ARH) have an impact on junior high school (JHS) students during puberty to develop unhealthy reproductive behaviors, such as dating and consumption of pornography through online media. Meanwhile, there are lack of facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the interests and talents of students that are friendly with local wisdom. Therefore, there is needed a partneships program between schools and university to improve student creativity for coaching ARH through empowerment of school environment. Furhermore, the aim of community egagement is to make a short film “healthy ARH” that is friendly to local wisdom to improve life skills of ARH.Method:The crativity of short movie program “healthy ARH” for local wisdom-friendly was conducted for 6 months at JHS 2 and JHS 3 Tamanan, Bondowoso. Among 36 students, 34 parents, and 6 teachers were participated in this program. Student creativity for making a short film was facilitated for promoting and education of ARH. This activities is an independent program from, by, and for students and teachers which are friendly with local wisdom. The series of activities consisted of community school consultations, training for made a short film, education and training for ARH, and monitoring and evaluation of program. Program measurements for students were performed through quantitatively measured for analyzed the differences of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of ARH, as well as knowledge of HIV at the beginning of month 1, month 3, and month 6 using Chi square test. Whereas the qualitative evaluation was perforemed through focus group discussions (FGD) regarding the perceptions of students and teachers used a short film as ARH promotion media at the end of the program.Hasil:Among 36 students who took part in this program, there were significant differences for ARH of students before and after participating in the “healthy ARH” through short film based on local wisdom-friendly, both in terms of knowledge(X2= 33.6; p<0.001), attitudes(X2= 16.2; p=0.001), behavior(X2= 24.3; p<0.001), andknowledge ofHIV (X2= 11.9;p=0.008). Based on the FGD, the teachers were feel confident for conducting peer counselors using short film education media. These film was easier to educate the student regarding the values and norms of school environment. Meanwhile, students feel comfortable learning ARH from a short film and their interests and talent are facilitated by short film creativity.Kesimpulan:Ashort film “healthy ARH” based local wisdom-friendly program is able to improve the knowledge, attitudes and behavior of ARH, as well as the students' HIV knowledge. This program could be used as a medium for ARH education in schools by integrating with the school health program to improve life skills of ARH.

IntroductionCinemeducation describes the use of film in medical education. The M23 Cinema (M23C) comprises a film screening and subsequent discussion with experts, affected persons and the audience. Previous research suggests that participating in cinemeducation may affect emotions and attitudes. This study aimed to establish a conceptual framework and explore when learning takes place, how learning occurs and what participants learn during the M23C.MethodsInformed by focused literature searches, discussions of the authors and the research results, a conceptual framework of the M23C was developed, comprising three dimensions (five distinct phases, learning methodology and potential impact). A mixed method study was undertaken, employing an exploratory sequential design. Initially, the qualitative component was conducted by interviewing everyone involved, comprising focus groups, expert interviews, a group interview and one narrative interview. All qualitative data were analysed using qualitative content analysis. The qualitative findings were used to inform the development of a survey among the participants of M23C evenings. The survey results were analysed descriptively. The findings generated by both data sets were integrated using the “following a thread” protocol and visualised by joint displays.ResultsIn total, 15 participants in M23C courses, six members of the current and two of the former organising committee, two experts, two affected persons and the initiator of the M23C were included in the qualitative component (n = 28). A total of 503 participants responded to the survey. The qualitative data confirmed the relevance of the five phases and participants described reflective thinking, perspective taking and emotional narratives as the three dimensions of how they learned during the M23C. Participants reported a change in attitudes, enriching their knowledge, experiencing empathy and learning about other health professions.DiscussionOur findings suggest that the M23C as a cinemeducation course provides a unique learning environment in the training of health professionals.

Objective. To assess the effectiveness of film in providing health and quality-of-life experiences of aging to student pharmacists. Methods. Third professional year student pharmacists enrolled in an elective course in geriatric pharmacy were shown a made-for-television movie, To Dance With the White Dog, which portrays elderly people experiencing health and quality-of-life issues. The student pharmacists were surveyed before and after viewing. The survey contained Likert-scale items as well as open-ended directed reflection questions. Responses to pre-and post-intervention surveys were compared using descriptive statistics and the Student t test for paired data. Qualitative content analysis was used to evaluate the directed reflection data. Results. Of the 69 students surveyed, 97% completed the pre-and post-intervention survey instruments. Comparison of pre-and post-survey data revealed non-significant increases in the strength of student pharmacists' agreement with statements on film as a useful resource. Students' self-reported understanding of geriatric health and quality-of-life experiences improved significantly from pre-to post-intervention. Agreement that film was a valid alternative to a lecture decreased slightly on the post-intervention survey. Through qualitative analysis of student reflections on the film activity, the themes of meaningful experience, opportunity to consider an approach to practice, and opportunity to experience the patient perspectives of autonomy, death, self-image of aging, and medication burden were identified. Conclusion. In pharmacy education, the combination of viewing a film followed by class discussion and written reflection was perceived by student pharmacists as a valuable method of learning about age-related health and quality-of-life experiences.
