Creation of the bone bank of the Rabat and Casablanca region in Morocco

Abstract: For a long time the use of bone grafting has demonstrated its interest in orthopedic surgery and traumatology. The autografts which are still very frequently used present various problems. “…Many hospitals in many countries, regardless of their GDP, have opened such Hospital Banks and are still looking for ways to improve their performance. Besides bone banks in Germany, [17][18][19] we found banks protocols described in several European countries: Netherlands [22], England [23], Croatia [24], France [21], Spain [25], Portugal [26] as well as in Marocco [27], Canada [28], USA [29], Argentina [30], Chile [31], Australia [32,33], India [34], Hong Kong [35] Our bank performs in the medium range compared to banks in other countries, with a very high discarding rate of 30-40% due to the presence of viral hepatitis B and C, but only 3% exogenous Staphilococal contamination, that could have been avoided. Other banks reporting comparable figures were in Ireland [23] in 2015, Portugal [26] in 2000 and Argentina [30] in 2015.…”

“…The bank first works with all orthopedic physicians in Rabat and Casablanca before expanding to all Moroccan orthopedic surgeons. It offers allografts that are high-quality and secure [ 33 ]. This sincerity and template are required for setting a bone bank in our country too.…”
