Kumluca has an important place in terms of greenhouse vegetable cultivation. Melon is among one of the main vegetables grown in the district on about 3200 decare of land. Various diseases cause decrease in the yield and quality of melons grown undercover in Türkiye. Among them, Fusarium wilt and gummy stem blight diseases especially have caused significant losses in recent years. In this research, the incidence and severity of the root and stem rot disease in Kumluca were determined by surveys made in 72 melon greenhouses in this area. Plant and soil samples were taken to the laboratory and isolations were made. As a result, Fusarium oxysporum and Didymella bryoniae were the most frequently isolated pathogens from the plant samples, followed by other Fusarium species. Fungi with the highest isolation frequency from the soil samples were Fusarium spp., Rhizoctonia solani and Macrophomina phaseolina. In the pathogenicity test, F. oxysporum, F. solani, F. verticillioides, M. phaseolina and R. solani isolates caused severe symptoms on melon seedlings. Virulence of the F. oxysporum isolates on different cucurbit species was also investigated and it was determined that they caused severe wilting on melon and watermelon seedlings, while symptoms on squash and cucumber were moderate or slight. Additionally, reactions of five melon cultivars (Yusufbey, Çıtırex, Niovi, Ferdevs and Memory) commonly grown in the region against D. bryoniae were investigated using randomly selected four pathogen isolates. All the cultivars were susceptible to the disease.

The aim of this study was to identify Rhizoctonia and Fusarium species isolated from tomato, pepper and melon plants grown in Erciş, Gevaş and Edremit districts of Van and to determine their pathogenicity. Survey studies were carried out in 2018 and 10 Rhizoctonia (from peppers whole Rhizoctonia solani; 2 AG-3, 1 AG-5, and 1 AG-2; from tomatoes 2 binucleic AG-K, 2 Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 and 2 Rhizoctonia solani AG-2) and 47 Fusarium isolates (10 from melons; 6 F. oxyporum, 2 F. solani, 2 F. equiseti and 6 Fusarium from peppers; 3 F. solani, 3 F. oxysporum and 31 from tomatoes; 2 binucleic AG-K, 2 Rhizoctonia solani AG-4, 2 Rhizoctonia solani AG-2) were obtained from the roots. Anastomosis groups (AG) of Rhizoctonia isolates and species identification of Fusarium isolates were made by classical methods. A total of 57 fungal isolates were obtained from the samples collected within the scope of the study. In the pathogenicity experiment, 14 Fusarium isolates were selected to represent the regions and all Rhizoctonia isolates isolated due to their low numbers were used. As a result of the experiment, it was determined that F. solani in pepper and F. oxysporum in tomatoes and melons were more pathogenic in Fusarium isolates. In Rhizoctonia species, R. solani AG-3 in peppers, R. solani AG-4 and binücleic Rhizoctonia AG-K in tomatoes were found to be more pathogenic. In this study, R. solani AG-5 and R. solani AG-3 from pepper, R. solani AG-2 from tomato and pepper, binucleic Rhizoctonia AG-K from tomato were isolated and anastomosis groups were determined for the first time in Van.

Aromatic plants constitute the main raw materials of the perfumery, food and cosmetics industry and in recent years with the increasing demand for therapeutic herbal medicines, interest in medicinal and aromatic plants has increased. Raw materials from medicinal and aromatic plants have recently begun to be used and spread in the food sector, especially in industrial sectors such as paint and perfumery. For this reason, growing healthy plant material is very important in terms of the protection of these crops. However, fungal diseases such as root rot, wilt, leaf spots, blight and anthracnose, which are problems during the cultivation of both medicinal and aromatic plants, negatively affect both the quantity and quality of these plants. For this reason, an integrated management practices including cultural measures, herbal products, biological control and, if necessary, chemical control methods with especially these fungal diseases are very important. In this review, 27 medicinal and aromatic plants, 37 fungal diseases, their chemical and biological control were included, and 161 references were used.
