Dynamic task assignment of autonomous AGV system based on multi agent architecture

Abstract: Increasing number of worldwide researchers and practitioners within manufacturing industry had recognized the need for an organization to implement distributed manufacturing system to be flexible and adaptable to a more demanding and fluctuating market. This paper proposes distributed architecture to control Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) operation in manufacturing industry based on multi-agent system (MAS). System and agent architectures had been designed to enable control the material handling activities. Al… Show more

“…The loading capacity for AGV in this article is considered as a single loading. Although current research articles [5], [6] , [4] , and [10] mostly discussed multiple loading capacities, this article only focused on study certain performance measure by not considered regarding load capacity. The warehouse is divided into several zones for load and unloads pallets to the other zone.…”

“…Moreover, in a very competitive business scenario, they can increase productivity and reduce costs of warehouse transportation systems where warehousing is a part of information flow in logistics. In addition, AGV is made up of various functional units that are operating independently, thus each function may have its own virtue in achieving an objective function [4]. In some research, authors highlight that vehicle quantity directly affect the performance of the transportation system [13].…”

“…Authors Fauadi et al [16] also proposed dynamic task assignment of autonomous AGV System which is based on Multi Agent Architecture. This is done to test the capability of the AGVs for different purposes.…”

“…This will enable control the material handling activities and also the AGVS will equipped with decision making capability to plan and execute their responsibilities autonomously or collectively when needed. Lastly, it will support dynamic attributes of AGV task assignment mechanism [16]. But by proposing these method it requires complex algorithms and skill personnel is required to operate the autonomous decision making capability to plan and execute AGV's responsibilities.…”
