Effect of Energy Drink on Bone Formation in the Expanded Inter-Premaxillary Suture

Abstract: Maxillary expansion of the median palatal suture is a common procedure in orthodontics. Even after retention, there is a strong tendency to relapse in the expanded suture. The authors' objectives are to accelerate the bone formation process in the expanded suture and to reduce the required retention time by using an energy drink (ED). Twenty rats were divided into 2 groups (n = 20). The expansion-only group was defined as the control group (Group C). The other group was defined as the expansion-plus-energy dri… Show more

“…Ikβa is a physiological inhibitor of heterodimer NF-kB, and its expression is induced by NF-kB. In human T cells activated by phorbol ester (PMA) or tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), this particular inhibitor is also degraded as NF-kB is released and enters the nucleus, after which NF-kB is reversely induced Ikβa protein synthesis [ 9 ]. There is a negative correlation between SOD activity and MDA concentration [ 10 ].…”

“…Currently, the effects of various substances have been investigated on new bone formation with the aim of improving the stability of RME . Antioxidant‐related studies are carried out by researchers to investigate the effects of antioxidants on bone metabolism via inhibition of osteoclastic activity and promotion of osteoblastic activity …”
