Evaluation of Histamine Imprinted Polypyrrole Deposited on Boron Doped Nanocrystalline Diamond

Abstract: This study describes the evaluation of histamine imprinted polypyrrole deposited on boron doped nanocrystalline diamond (NCD). Boron doped oxygen terminated NCD (B : NCD) was used as a conducting substrate for the design of here reported electrochemical sensor. Some peculiarities of B : NCD were evaluated and oxidation kinetics of both NCD and B : NCD was investigated. Both the NCD and B : NCD were modified by molecularly imprinted polypyrrole and not‐imprinted polypyrrole. Histamine was used as a template for… Show more

“…Electrochemical systems may be then presented as an interesting alternative for detecting BAs due to their simplicity, low cost, effectiveness and short time in the analysis of these kinds of compounds. In this way, electrochemical sensors based on the use of imprinted polymers have been developed for the selective determination of different BAs (Peeters et al, 2013;Ratautaite, Nesladek, Ramanaviciene, Baleviciute, & Ramanavicius, 2014). Electrochemical biosensors have been described as more simple devices in the determination of BAs in different samples.…”

“…Both pure Si and nanocrystalline diamond are not often used for electrochemical applications due to their poor conductivity [15] and doping is applied in order to gain semiconductivity and some other advanced properties. Surface termination of nanocrystalline diamond with oxygen is an additional procedure which is suitable for the regulation of surface adhesive properties [16,17]. It was noted that unlike some other conjugated polymers, the Ppy could form a covalent bond with diamond [18,19], which makes this system more stable and better reproducible.…”

“…A promising carbon based electrode is boron doped diamond because of its stability, chemical inertness, low levels of electrochemical background noise and wide potential window in aqueous solutions. [10] Boron doped diamond electrodes (BDDEs) have been demonstrated in many chemical sensing applications [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18], and can be futher used in the synthesis of several oxidizing agents like H2O2, H2SO4 and O3. [19,20] However, the bare diamond electrode shows a poor electrochemical response to H2O2.…”
