“…A recent meta-analysis included 18 studies as well as the suspected duplicated ones from two groups of studies 20,46,51,55 exploring relationship between rs1800796 and periodontitis reported significant association between the two, be that Asians only or all subjects included. 22 The present report, excluding the suspected duplicated data, adding data from two latest studies 20,51 and current report confirmed such observation. However, because of putting central Asian participants' data under Caucasians, Zhao et al 22 reported rs1800796 did not associate with periodontitis in the latter.…”

“…We postulated that the same SNPs reported by Song et al 21 . and Zhao et al 22 . would be significantly associated with periodontitis in the cohorts followed.…”

“…[2730] The genetic variation for IL-6 is associated with diseases caused by abnormal inflammatory responses. [14,31] Studies have shown that IL-6 expression levels are abnormally elevated after acute inflammatory response, [32] so we believe that the abnormal expression of IL-6 , caused by IL-6 gene polymorphism, may be related to the occurrence and development of ARDS. It can be seen from the results of this study that the G allele at IL-6 rs1800796 is a risk factor for ARDS, and the plasma IL-6 level in the population carrying the G allele is significantly higher than in the C allele carrier population, which may be one of the main causes of ARDS.…”

“…The levels of salivary IL-6 appear to be increased in patients affected by Chronic Periodontitis as compared to healthy controls [95]. Interleukin-6 572C/G and RS1800796 polymorphisms appear as genetic risk factors for periodontitis patients in the Asian population [96,97]. Its sensitivity ranged from 52% to 80%, and specificity ranged from 48% to 87% [31,84,85,93]; • Hemoglobin(HB): This has a sensitivity value of 72% and a specificity value of 75% [19].…”
