“…Several sources of colonystimulating activity (CSA) which cause the proliferation of granulopoietic cells have been recognized in humans, including the supernatant of human peripheral leucocytes (Iscove et a1 1971, Chervenick & Boggs 1970, spleen cells (Paran et a1 1970, embryonic kidneys (Brown & Carbone 1971, active lymphocytes (Cerny 1974, Cline & Golde 1974, Ruscetti & Chervenick 1975 and placenta (Burgess et a1 1977). Furthermore, several human CSA producing cell lines in vitro have been reported (Di Persio et al 1978, Okabe et al 1978, Golde et a1 1978, Yunis et a1 1978. In this report we describe a patient with lung cancer associated with marked leucocytosis (where the tumor material produced CSA) and the establishment of a CSA producing cell line (KONT cells).…”
