Investigating Land Surface Temperature Changes Using Landsat Data in Konya, Turkey

Abstract: ABSTRACT:The main purpose of this paper is to investigate multi-temporal land surface temperature (LST) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) changes of Konya in Turkey using remotely sensed data. Konya is located in the semi-arid central Anatolian region of Turkey and hosts many important wetland sites including Salt Lake. Six images taken by Landsat-5 TM and Landsat 8-OLI satellites were used as the basic data source. These raw images were taken in 1984, 2011 and 2014 intended as longterm and sho… Show more

“…The quantitative analysis has been carried out for the river temperature parameter for the considered stretches and for the stipulated period. The temperature estimation formula is a well-known formula and has been already applied by several researchers across the globe, including India (Avdan and Jovanovska 2016 ; Orhan and Yakar 2016 ; George et al 2017 ; Barbieri et al 2018 ; Rongali et al 2018 ). The river temperature is one of the essential parameters for the sustainable development of the aquatic ecosystem (Wawrzyniak et al 2012 ; Ling et al 2017 ).…”

“…The brightness temperature (TB) is the microwave radiation radiance traveling upward from the top of the Earth's atmosphere (Rajeshwari & Mani, 2014). Spectral radiance was converted to brightness temperature (TB) by assuming the Earth's surface is a black body (Orhan & Yakar, 2016). TB for both Landsat-5 and Landsat-8 were calculated by using the following equation (Chander & Markham, 2003):…”

“…Hasil perekaman temperatur lahan oleh sensor termal penginderaan jauh dapat diobservasi di berbagai skala pengamatan, begitu pula dengan distribusinya. Variasi spasial temperatur permukaan lahan atau Land Surface Temperature (LST) secara tidak langsung mencermikan karakteristik wilayah dan dapat digunakan untuk berbagai hal seperti kajian perubahan iklim maupun studi kekotaan (1)(2)(3).…”
