In this work, the combination effect of tuned mass damper and high static low dynamic stiffness (HSLDS) isolator is investigated in reducing the vibration amplitude of Euler–Bernoulli beam with a nonlinear attachment. The performance of the absorber is studied in two cases; the first case, HSLDS isolator is one degree of freedom and the second case, two degree of freedom isolator is combined of HSLDS isolator and tuned mass damper absorber. By comparing the performance of these two isolators, it is revealed the two degree of freedom isolator has much better performance in direct force excitation and also improves the system performance in the base excitation. This isolator reduces the system amplitude at all frequencies, especially ultra-low frequencies, which is the main advantage to this isolator with respect to other isolators and reduces the natural frequency until the phenomenon of resonance occurs at a lower frequency. Moreover, decreasing the natural frequency increases the damping and in quasi zero stiffness and negative stiffness structure, the system has supercritical damping. This isolator is studied for positive, quasi zero and negative stiffness. The results show that the system with quasi zero stiffness has the best performances. Also, by increasing the excitation amplitude, the isolator loses its effectiveness.

This paper presents a study of dynamics analysis and optimization of a nonlinear cantilevered beam with the combination of the acoustic black hole (ABH) and the nonlinear energy sink (NES). We establish the nonlinear equations of a cantilevered beam with both the ABH and a NES. Then, we conduct sensitivity analysis of the parameters of the NES for a further understanding. To discover the potential of the NES efficiency, we define a multi-objective optimization problem and solve it by using cell mapping method. The numerical results show that the nonlinear ABH beam with the optimal NES can dissipate 97.7% of the input energy due to the energy concentration capability of the ABH and the irreversible energy transfer behavior of the NES.

The harmonically excited structure coupled with the nonlinear energy sink (NES) and a piezoelectric harvester is investigated. The complexification-averaging method is developed to analyze ordinary differential equations which also include one first order differential equation. Effects of varying parameters for the piezoelectric harvester on the saddle-node bifurcation and the Hopf bifurcation are explored. Analytical results of the amplitude–frequency response curves are verified by the numerical evidence. Global bifurcations for NES parameters are presented. Comparisons of periodic results for bifurcation diagrams are performed both numerically and analytically as well as their stable ranges. The integration of nonlinear vibration suppression and energy harvesting is discussed. The output voltage, power, displacement transmissibility, and average energy are calculated to explore the integration. Quasi-periodic responses near the resonance frequency contribute to effectively reducing the resonant amplitude and improving the bandwidth of energy harvesting, as well as targeted energy transfer. Results confirm that the integration of vibration suppression and piezoelectric energy harvesting can be enhanced by adjusting cubic nonlinearity.
