Mammalian peptidoglycan recognition protein TagL inhibitsListeria monocytogenesinvasion into epithelial cells

Abstract: Peptidoglycan recognition proteins are a family of evolutionary conserved proteins that play a basic role in the innate immunity of insects, but their role in the immunity of mammals remains unclear. To elucidate its functions, a mouse member of the peptidoglycan recognition proteins family, TagL, was stably expressed in colon adenocarcinoma HT29 cells, and its effect on the invasion and intracellular growth of the enteroinvasive pathogenic bacterium Listeria monocytogenes was assessed. The expression of TagL … Show more

“…The strains with inlA and inlB deletions were generously provided by Prof. J. Vazquez-Boland, Univ. Edinburgh, UK, and have been used in previous studies [ 50 , 88 ]. Complementation of the inlB deletion with the InlB-expressing plasmid was described earlier [ 50 ].…”

“…Invasion and proliferation assays were performed as previously described (Kibardin et al, 2006) and (Li et al, 2014). Using the LipofectAMINE2000 transfection reagent, 2 × 10 5 CIK cells were transfected with 1 μg pEGFP-N1-gcNFIL3 or pEGFP-N1 plasmids.…”
