“…This result was the same as that of Canani et al , 68 who found that Lactobacillus increased the abundance of butyric-producing bacteria. Li et al 69 pointed out that intestinal dysbacteriosis mice changed the TBA level, which was similar to our study. The results indicated that L. plantarum improved intestinal immunity by modulating the gut microbiota composition to increase SCFAs (acetic acid and butyric acid) and TBA, inhibiting inflammation and protecting the intestinal barrier.…”

“…Lieber et al (Lefevre et al., 1972) found for the first time that chronic alcohol consumption enlarged the bile acid pool and reduced the excretion of bile acid, which suggested that alcohol consumption could affect the enterohepatic circulation of bile acid. In addition, the signal of bile acid homeostasis can be sensed by the liver and intestine, which is the key to the homeostasis regulation of gut microflora (Li et al., 2019). In this study, alcohol exposure caused gut microflora and liver lipid metabolism disorder, leading to TG, TC, and TBA accumulation, probably caused by reduced excretion of fecal bile acids and increased intestinal reabsorption of bile acids.…”

“…Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) commonly used in feed additives can not only effectively treat various types of medical disorders but also maintain general health and prevent disease in animals ( Cao et al, 2015 ; Du et al, 2018 ; Li et al, 2019 ). Studies have shown that Codonopsis pilosula , as one of the traditional Chinese medicinal plants, has been used to effectively enhance immunity and improve microcirculation ( Fu et al, 2018 ), while another popular medicinal herbal plant Radix astragalus has shown pharmaceutical effects on immunomodulation and anti-oxidation activation ( Gong et al, 2018 ).…”
